Hmmm Battle of the sexes explained?

Need a lot of 7. 62 X 39 for my new Mini-30 and have been looking at either Sellier & Bellot or Wolf steel case stuff but can't decide. Anyone have experience with either brands above ... or any other recomendations would be welcome? Definately want FMJ.
As soon as the 2+ feet of snow melts off the range I belong too and we fix the firing line roof that colapsed under 4 feet of snow, the place is gonna be swarming with folks just itching to be outside shooting and I want to be ready.

Sportsman's Guide had russian FMJ for $69 per 1K rounds a while back. It shoots good. I have also shot some of the wolf and it was good also. I have found the hollow point is a little more accurate in my SKS though.

I have seen it for $89. 95 for 1k rounds of russian Hollopoint (the only type that I use) at Tenneseeguns.com. I usually buy locally for about $100 (which ends up costing the same when you add shipping).

I've used the Russian, it's good.
You might want to check if you have a . 311" barrel. Some of the very early Rugers had a . 308" dia bore. This was before the good cheap ammo was readily available, and there was no . 311" bullets available.

The last time I looked at a Mini 30, they were made with . 308 bores. Most 7. 62 x 39 uses . 311 bullets. Mini 30's handle it just fine.

New 7. 62 x 39 barrels for Mausers use . 308 bores.

Thankyou folks.
My biggest concern was the Ruski stuff, if it was good or not. My Mini-30 is brand new and specifically states 7. 62X39 so I'm not concerned about the ammo's size. I have found a good deal at JGSALES. COM for $79 / 1000 rounds and will order from them.
Thanks again for your input.

Oh, if the bore is OK with it, then by all means buy Russian. Keep your chamber clean. These are laquered steel cases, and the laquer can sometimes build up in the chamber.
The steel can sometimes be tough on the extractor, but the mini is a good design, and shouldnt be a major concearn.
Out of my Russian SKS, mine clocked just over 2400 FPS, and was VERY consistant with good accuracy. This was the 122 gr HP. Wolf brand.

I've used a lot of the Sellier&Bellot in my 45, in fact it seems to be the guns favorite ammo next to the Remington 230gr hollowpoints I carry when hunting. My brother and I place an ammo order about twice a year from Cheaper-Than-Dirt, great place to deal with.
By the way, if any of you guys from Michigan are looking for a Chinese SKS I've got one I'm looking to unload.
