Fairfax, VA?

Washingtonians, when does SIR start up?

AAYYYYYY..... It was a good day at the drags..... Looked like it was agonna rain... An then cleared up cloudy, and became a dry drizzle(?)

We had something like... . 14 trucks show up, and always got our own lane, so we got to race each other... .

Ian(Treeman), Greg (cumminzpower), Tom(TomGolden). Bill (drivesmopars) Ray(torqusmaximus) And a bunch of others, all joined in...

Greg had a little trans problem, but was still putting out some power. You could hear toms turbo spooling all the way down the track. Bill was doing great with that dually... Watching all 4 back tires smoke is a big treat... Ian's truck showed up with a bunch more goodies... (YOU DOG!!!!;) )... Jake had a 2WD he was having some serious traction problems with... If you look at Jakes back wheels, there all fuzzy cuz they were spinnnnnnng!!!

We did get to watch a new Ford Lightning get 1/3 down the track, and just start smokin' like the drain plug was missing. . l. Then BOOM!!!the entire underneath was on fire!!!!

Glad it wasn't my truck...

Sorry if this was lenghty... BTW, the Ford, and Chevy camp were conspicious in their absense... (Brian)

Missed This One

Sorry I missed the fun this time. We were going to bring a client's truck I'm currently working on

but we are waiting for a transmission at the moment. I just got home from finishing a head R&R in order to O-ring it and install a copper head gasket. We will be ready next time!

I had time slips that varied from, 15. 46, 15. 49,15. 694,15. 643.

Way consistent, for an old guy. . all of my RT's were also very close...

BIG FUN... ... ... .

Ray... . If that woman wasn't your wife... ... . How come you didn't introduce us????

;)

Well, first of all, if my memory is correct, Colin himself had the best ETs pof the afternoon, so Big Congrats to him!!

I had the worst Et's, as you can see below. I tried a couple of new things - a 3rd gear 2wd launch (sucked, never gonna do that again) and a full length 4wd run (I think think that was my highest terminal velocity). I am not certain which was the 3rd gear launch and the full length 4wd run, because I didn't pick up my time slips between those two runs, and because I was always in the left hand lane, the wall clock time on the slip is printed on the right hand side of the time slips, which went to the guy in the other lane, so I don't know which is which between runs 2 and 3 below for certain.

First run: (2wd, 2nd gear launch)

RT: 1. 274

I1: 3. 2

I2: 8. 29

I3: 12. 125 @ 66. 11 MPH

ET: 17. 785 @ 90. 383 MPH

2nd Run (2dw, 3rd gear launch):

RT: . 995

I1: 2. 97

I2: 8. 26

I3: 12. 162 @ 67. 154 MPH

ET: 17. 816 @ 89. 341 MPH

3rd run (4wd run all the way, 2nd gear launch):

RT: 1. 118

I1: 3. 727

I2: 8. 779

I3: 12. 373 @ 71. 010 MPH

ET: 17. 821 @ 92. 146 MPH

4th run (2 wd, 3nd gear launch):

RT: . 744

I1: 2. 955

I2: 7. 878

I3: 11. 560 @ 70. 052 MPH

ET: 17. 119 @ 91. 126 MPH

Every run was with the Comp on 5x5. I thought about doing a gear skip shift, maybe from 3rd to 5th, but decided against it after trying the 3rd gear launch, when the truck just didn't want to get rolling with such a steep "difference" between stopped and 3rd gear, I figured the 1000 RPM difference between 3 - 5th gear would kill my time.

I think I did have the fastest terminal velocities of any of us diesel heads though. Bill Babcock was very consistent at 87. XXX MPH on I think every run. I raced against him almost every time, and he always beat me soundly out of the hole, but I always caught up to him by the end of the track.

Bottom line, we all had a great day, and no one broke anything, that I know of... .

Colin

Hey guys, I showed up for breakfast , told you I wouldn't make it to the track, just didn't want to show you guys up with my two extra cylinders!!!! :D :D :D

Glad everyone had a good time and nothing broke and we were still able to have a couple of laughs at Greg's expense. Hope to see all you guys at the NORCAL and don't forget to tell your friends.

Congrats Colin on being so consistent,& caning me every time, think I had you beat on my best reaction time of . 497 though, which was a big improvement from 1. 23 on my 1st run when my alarm clock didnt wake me up . Had a personal best of 15. 87 out of the six runs I did. That run ,I had the comp on 3x3 which seems to be the best setting when the truck is empty . On 5x5 the truck was really slow out the hole ,just seemed to be dumping fuel out the pipe with little resultsuntill I got moving down the track.

Was good to see all you guys again & also get so many runs in,feel like I got my monies worth this time.

Looking forward to the next time. Ian

A Lotta Runs?

Somebody explain how you guys got so many runs in.

Last time they ran one pro car in the near lane with one street car in the outer lane. With only 30 pro cars to 200 street class racers we had a heckuva wait between runs.

Nowel,

1 reason was lack of participants!!!

They might have been scared off by possible showers. . Plus they gave us lane 6, we could make a run, come back around and make another pass within 5 min. or so... Last time we were here we each got in about 3 runs... . we coulda' run 15 times on Sunday... Finally got our moneys worth...

Ray!!! I know she wasn't you sister;) :D ;)
