Competition 13.76@96 from a 5 speed 3500..I did it!

13.275 @ 103.94 w/ 1.906 60' time

That was the best run today, with the truck being consistent in the 13. 32-13. 35 range at 103mph. The converter and shifting really made a difference.

I don't know how much there is left on #2 only. We weighed it yesterday at 6400# as well. I've got lots of videos... just got to get it to MPG format. I'll try to get that done in the next week or so.

Impressive. What is different with the converter and shifting? I assumed you were already locking the converter in OD?

Earlier shifting, I guess?

We both had/have a late 3-4 shift. Its not taking place until 3500 to 3600 rpm when racing, so from 3100rpm to 3600rpm kinda freerolling down the track (no power). Its killing the topend. They put a race convertor in Marks truck, and I am getting one too as well as making the 3-4 shift happen around 3150rpm.

Yeah, with the race converter, today was the first day with lockup in OD. Lawrence and Bill worked out some new setup on the VB which did help the 3-4 shift, but it was still what I would consider late. By grounding the 3-4 shift solenoid with a momentary switch, I can override the computer and force the shift when I wanted it. That helped a bunch.

My best ET before was a 13. 63, with an average on that day of 13. 715; my best MPH was 98. 06, with an average of 96. 9

Today my best was 13. 27 with an average in the mid 13. 30's and the MPH were all in the high 102 to high 103mph range.

That's a solid . 4 drop in ET and a good 6mph increase!

Ive got the late 3-4 shift too,Im not going to bother bringing it to the track until i get that fixed,The switch sounds like a good way to get the shift sooner,if thats what it takes. While ihavent been to the track, ive run my brothers car,and many others, and from there times,my educated guess is Im at 13. 8-14. 1 right now. Keith doe you have 4. 10's or 3. 55's? Do you lock the TC in OD,manually or let the PCM lock it in 3rd,and shift lock to lock into OD?13. 27 is awesome, wonder if water injection would get you another 1/10 of a second or so.

Perfect?

No its not perfect..... it wasn't installed/set up by him. Over all it has held up pretty well with what I do to it. The race convertor will lock up a lil sooner is the reason for going to it. Its just an adjustment. I believe Jim said his BD transmission does the same thing if I remember correctly? (Jim correct me if I am wrong).

I don't "shout" DTT from the mountain tops like some people do..... but it certainly does what is advertised, and what I was told and expected it to do.

On another note ... hows that twin setup working? Looks really interesting under your hood.

The truck Keith races is a 3. 54 w/285's.

If I get the same results in ET drop as Keith did on the same modifications on the transmission stuff... ... . whoa!

It would definatly be cool... ... ... . and just think, I don't even have a cam or super mentals.

Its interesting to compare the 3. 54 vs 4. 10 trucks. We both have 285's.

Thanks Kat,with 285 tires, and 3. 55's,the 13. 27 is even more impressive. I think my 4. 10's are ideal for 1/4 mi,until i hit 100+ ,which i know i m not at now. I think it will defuel after that. My truck leaves extremely hard with the 89%,and 4. 10's,Your reg cab must be like a cataupult off the line, beings its about 500 lbs lighter than mine.

Yes my launches are what I "live" for... . best 60ft so far is 1. 81. The 1. 8x's are fun fun fun..... the 2. 0x's are kinda "ho hum" :)

The difference between running 13. 8 and 13. 4 is truely amazing... its a noticable difference.

I hope to weigh mine tomorrow... I'm down to 3/4 of a tank of fuel. . which is how it sat when I ran 13. 46 last Sunday.

I can't decide if I want to stay 91% or goto the 93%... ... 4. 10's make great 1/4 mile trucks... but after that. . we're toast ... . ;)

I'm awaiting to see what Eric McBride pulls out of his hat with his new transmission setup... ... . as well as Adam with his twin setup.....

100mph in the 1/4 is a magical number... I've only obtained it once to date. Its like a "wall"... ... like I said i can only hope I see the same type of gains Keith saw on the transmission adjustment.

Anyone try slicks on the bad boy yet?

I'm assuming that the 285's are street tread??

That MPH could yield a 12-second pass if you could get lower 60' times... .

Matt - just being observant/curious... . as per usual.

There probably would be better times in 2WD with traction, but for now we are running BFG 285/75/16 All Terrains in 4-HI. With the 3. 54 gear, it seems to launch pretty good. best 60' to date was a 1. 88.

I know Adam has had better 60' times, which is one reason he's gone quicker (I guess the LPG and N2O help too), but our MPH is about the same - which usually means the HP is close. ET comes down to weight and traction.

consistency

Great times Keith. That consistency is going to win more races than any speed will. That's what pays the money.

I can't wait to see how this automatic does on the track. Our test-n-tune is this Saturday at noon. I should have a full report afterwards.

So 4wd at 103 wasn't too bad:eek: ? I am worried about it, especially if I go faster than that. Oh well, I have Amsoil in the transfer case and the rest of the driveline. Hope it helps ;)

Great job once again and by the way how are those reaction times? I have to re-learn that game all over!

Thanks Eric. I wish I could take the truck to a sea-level track sometime... Stefan K. seems to think it would be worth 2-3 tenths since he was about that far off his times when he was here.

The 4wd system hasn't had a problem yet <knock on wood>.

Keep us informed on what you run. What's your setup/hp/weight?

I just go for test n' tune, so my RT's vary from . 5xx to 2 seconds, depending on if I'm up on boost and ready. When I am, I can usually cut at . 530 to . 700 :)

setup/hp/weight

I have the usual; marine gasket, hot injectors, ~550 ccs of fuel, dual stage turbos. HP is up there with most, by not quite as high as some of the local pullers. I weigh in at 6900 lbs (lift kit and 35" mud terrains) but can get it down to 6780 with very little fuel in the tank. With the 5 speed I started the season last year 14. 0x's and ended the season averaging 13. 8's ~98 mph with a one time best of 13. 54 @102mph. In the altitude I ran a 13. 99 and dialed in 14. 05 for the race. At Gateway International in St. Louis (600ft elev) I ran 13. 76 then ripped the teeth off of the 5th gear driver on a 1 day old transmission. I launch in 4wd and put into 2wd after 3rd gear and averaging . 52x's in r/t.

This year I have put in a 47RE (report to come out after test and tune) and bought 285 60 17 Proxes s/t Toyo tires. Once I have this dialed in I will add whatever it takes to get 11. 01 and no faster ;)

How much did those run you? I couldn't find that size on the Toyo website. . whats the overall diameter? And weight rating?

OOPS!

Sorry about that Kat, I was shooting from the hip on the tires, here is the link:

http://www.toyo.com/tires/index_frame.html

They are the 285/60/17 114V and the are right at 30" tall. I think they will be great for the 3. 55 rear. I paid $119 at Tire barn, and $160 for the Atlas polished rims. They are 17x10s they are not weight rated for daily driving at 2601lbs. I will only put them on at the track. So I have a lot of re-adjusting to do, I will try different air pressures, etc with them. After Saturday I will know how they do.
