I installed guages a couple of weeks ago, but the westach fp guage wouldn't work straight out of the box. I called genos and they sent me a new one right away. The customer service from genos was really good. The bad news is that I think I found out why my pickup sometimes hesitates. I think the lift pump is shot. This is the first time I have ever had a fp guage so I need some advice. At idle I have around 17 pounds of pressure and driving down the road at 65-70 mph it stays at about 13-14 pounds. When I go to accelerate it drops to 0. I had it at dodge about a month ago because of the hesitation and they said that the pressures were fine. If you just check it without driving it, the pressure is high. Should I take someone from the shop for a drive to show them whats happening. I think someone said anything below 10 pounds of pressure constituted a failed lift pump- Is this correct?

thanks

Fuel pressure

If you are reading the pressure after the filter I would say you need to change the fuel filter or check the pressure before the filter and see what you get while accelerating, if it still goes to zero, yes, maybe the lift pump is bad. bg

I am really new to this. The shop that did the work hooked the sending unit up at the bottom of the injector pump. Does a 0 reading at the pump mean the lift pump is bad?

B G is right. Change that fuel filter!!

It doesn't matter if you just did it two weeks ago, do it again. Then if you still have the problem you can go after the pump.

ANYTIME you have a heavy throttle/high RPM performance issue the very first thing you do is change the fuel filter/s.
