Pulled engine today to find noise was only a broken flex plate. :)

Broke flex plate in 4 pieces. Funny thing is it would still drive. Made a racket but still had power.

We pulled engine and bolted up to engine stand. Fired her up and brought engine rpms up and everything was a-ok. While engine was out I changed exhaust manifold gaskets and checked cylinder ports. Everything checked out good. Big relief. ;)

BushWakr was there to lend a hand and can say he did a little dance on my engine as it went back in. :p

Thanks Piers, Al, Mark, Mark, and Bob for the hand. Yeah theres 3 of us Marks in the shop. Makes for a real mess when someone calls Mark.

Yeah me too Bob. I didn't get a chance to chat much with too many people at DDP because I spent 2. 5 hours changing injection pump and then Piers, Sandy and I had to head home to pick up the trailer. Made for a long day.

Yup, it was good news and a relief to see that it was only the flexplate. Who says a 1st Gen can't Rock N' Roll... . ;):)

Ole' mark had me up on the rocker covers doing the pole cat two step trying to line up the engine mounts..... darn turbo weighs more than me for pete sakes..... had to fill my pockets with nuts N bolts to get some weight on 'er. I can just imagine how that must of looked to someone walking in the door and seeing me sticking up above the roofline hopping up and down like an organ grinders monkey... . geeezzz,, the things you do for a CTD'r. . :);)

Glad it was a just that. All else looked good, and it even ran nice on the engine stand. .

Bob.

Mark:

Glad to hear it was nothing fatal.

You guys make me wish I wasn't so far east. Was through your neighborhood (almost) back in 91 on the way to Alaska. Drove north through Penticton (sorry about the spelling). Beautiful!

Mark,

Glad to hear it was only the flex plate, when mine went in september it made some really nasty sounds before it broke completely. Seemed to give about 50 miles of warning before it finally let go.

Better than an engine:D
