good place for parts

ive been looking for an overhaul kit for my 1st gen. here are the prices



Cummins-$2000. 00 (plus shipping) (mains, rods, oil pump, pistons, rings, all gaskets)



Depco-$625 (mains, rods, all gaskets, rings)



ABILENE MACHINE-$700 (mains, rods, thrust washers, oil pump, pistons, rings, pins, all gaskets, i think this is everything)



all their stuff is the same as cummins parts. We've bought tractor parts from them but never thought about buying parts for the old goat. pretty big price difference aint it??

Is that abiline machine in KS, or TX. I live close to the one in KS.



Ya tractor repair places would be an option. CaseIH has used this engine for years.

Why do you feel the need to overhaul your 1st gen? 500k miles on it? If it has at least 25psi hot oil pressure w/load, 10psi hot oil pressure at idle, I wouldn't overhaul it.

10 psi cold, wide open-dont know actual miles-quite a bit-hard ones too.

10psi idle cold pressure? Measured with a mechanical or electric aftermarket oil pressure gauge or are you going off of the factory dummy gauge?
