Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Good power then no power.

We have a 99 2500 4x4 auto at work. For some reason, the truck will have real good power, then all of a sudden becomes a total dog. It will do this off and on. They took it to the local Dodge dealer where they replaced the speed sensor, thinking it would fix the problem. Obviously not!

Do you have a fuel pressure guage?

What happens is you'll be driving down the road and let off of it. When you get back on it, it'll have no power, no matter how much you push the pedal. Then you let off again and it'll be just fine.

mine was doing that but the tach would go dead also. Changed the crankshaft position sensor and it fixed it.

On this truck, the speedo won't register until about 20 mph. The tach always works. I don't know if the speedo is still goofy since they changed that sensor. They just ordered a 05 GMC. Said having too many problems with Dodges. Not good!
