2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Good price for 1995 Diesel Ram?

Not far from where I work there is a white 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel, automatic, white and gray, gray interior, 4WD, regular cab, long bed, 125,000 miles, chrome wheels, tow package, excellent condition. Asking price is $8000.

Is this a good price?

What horsepower and torque do the 95's have?

Are there any disadvantages to buying a 95 instead of a 96-98?

Kelley Blue Book says it's worth $9,735 in excellent condition with 125K on the clock.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me if it's in good shape. I gave $10,500 for my 2WD w/85K miles 5 years ago.

Mine blue booked at 9500 with 225,000 on the clock, so I took the chance at buying it for 9000... . and the owner thought it was fast then boy would he like the difference it is now and I'm not even started!! As far as the power, I was beat by a 98' QC LB (ATS exhaust manifold, II 62, 370s, AFE intake, full ATS transmission and timing bumped) by a truck length, granted mine is lighter but I wasn't to dissapointed by the outcome because all of his mods are what I'm looking into getting.

About six months or so ago I paid 7500 for my '95, exact specs as what you're looking at with 102,000 miles. I think I got a great deal. Your price seems fair to me. Go for it if it checks out good.

For comparison I bought my 95 2500 4x4 5spd with 142 on the clock for 7500. It was by far less than perfect, with body rot going on at the rockers and cab corners and left front fender.



This was in November of last year.

got my fairly clean rust free 96 c&c 3500 2wd two years ago with 304k for 6200 with a 5 year old flatbed on it, had some tuning issues but nothing serious

bought my 97 from a dealer for 7500. its got a torn up driver seat and it had dropped 5th gear. i sold my last 12v with 178k on it about a year and a half ago for 11500.

Well I went back yesterday to take a closer look and get the phone number to call the owner.
When I got there, the owner and another guy were looking at it.
While I was talking to them, the other guy decided to buy it.
The owner said he was the original owner and he already had the transmission rebuilt and modified so it wouldn't brake again.
Oh well next time I'll have to act quicker.

When it comes to 2nd gen CTD's if it is in nice shape, and it's 4x4.

Anything under 10k is a good price.

The 2nd gens are gettin' harder and harder to find without rusted out bodies and trashed interiors.

Especially, one owner trucks.

Bummer Sanfordj, The same exact thing happened to me about two months before I found the one I just bought. I drove 130 miles for a second time intending to buy the truck. When i got there I saw it being driven away by the new owner... . Wha !!!!

I ended up finding a pretty cherry one through Craigslist but had to do a fly and drive about 700 miles. But that was a fun adventure and just added to the buying experience.
