i posted this in the drivetrain section and decided it was better suited here! does anyone know if 821. 00 is a good deal on the banks intercooler for a 03??

thanks

i am not sure i need to give them a call and find out. thats just what i saw on the website but it did not have a discription other than banks technicooler SYSTEM. so i assume that is everything. will keep you posted

If anybody can get a better price, let us know because I'm looking for a Banks Technicooler also. 2005 CTD HPCR, NV5600 4x4.

ok heres the email that i got back!

Will-

The Banks Technicooler comes with everything needed to pull the old one out and install the new one- clamps, hoses, bolts, etc.

so it looks like no high ram. but that still seems to be a pretty good deal since i can get a high ram for about 260 plus 18 for shipping. anyone find out what the technicoolers are rated to psi wise??

does anyone have the intercooler from citydiesel?? if so does it come with new hoses and fittings? i have been lookin around at citydiesel and haisleys and banks is looking to be the better deal money wise. and if it is rated to 70 or 80 pounds i doubt that im ever gonna need to hit that with a set of towing twins right??

Called Banks on he pressure for the Cooler

After Dec,9,2005 we will have them. My Guess is 70 to 80 Psi,the volume is more critical than pressure.

Banks says the pressure is good to 150psi on that cooler, fyi. City Diesel has on good to 500psi! But they seem to have a problem getting them or keeping them in stock. They are $850. I could swear that maybe a year ago someone posted that the Banks and Schied were at around $1100.

Whoever told you that it could Take 150 Psi is full of pressure,Do you realize that anything over 120 Psi is down right Dangerous.

I was told the following:

Designed Burst Pressure 150psi

Designed Max Working Pressure 120psi

I wanted to know if it could handle the pressure of twin turbos (~75psi max) and from what I have been told, it looks like it should be OK.

Keep in mind, these are "designed" values, Banks apparently only leak tests to 45psi from what I have heard.

I bought my 100 PSI innercooler from Haisley. . It was $850 plus shipping. They said theirs is made by the same people as the one offered by Scheid.

haisley wants 1300 bucks for an Exchange and 1500 for a replacement, ALL FOR 100PSI!! no way jose, too expensive. well if the Banks setup will hold to even 100 psi i doubt i will even need to venture close to that on the street. thanks for all the help guys i'm going with the banks setup, looks like its a better deal, "more banks for the buck".

I would like to tag on here and ask how many people have measured a before vs. after temperature to see how these aftermarket coolers compare to stock.

What reduction in intake air temp or EGT has been measured?

Sounds like there's a lot of interest in pressure, but I want to know about reduction in EGT's (measured, not marketing hype). Anyone?

Well I don't talk about what I don't know about so feel free to give old Banks a call and tell them they don't know squat. Then call City Diesel and ask for Jason and see what he tells you,... They have an Intercooler that has been pressure tested to 500psi and they guarantee it against anything for two years. Then again, maybe your right and they're false advertising.

well from what i read on DTR theres going to be the biggest drop in a rig that is running twins and higher boost pressures. if your running stock setup probably only 75* or so less but most have reported about 200 on a WOT and 100 less while cruising with a trailer and a pretty modified rig. hope that helps
