Called dealer I purchased from in Oct. /03 about buying extended warranty. Salesman is history and they put me with some fin/office guy. Told him I was shopping ext. warr. ,he gave me a price of 1496. 00 for ELITE 5 yr. 100,000 mile,100 ded. Truck currently has 15k and should average a little less than that annually. He went on to say the 5yr. engine warr. only covers internally oiled engine parts... ... NO turbo, injector ,pump. . etc... . He went on to say the plan pays rental from the first day of lost service. He also said that I could not get a "0" ded. . Is there a "0"ded. available?I asked him to confirm the 315's on stock rims would not be a problem. Truck is stock. Any suggestions on points to consider when shopping for warr. ?Is this a good price? Does the 7/70 cover transmission, turbo, injectors, pump? With my average on miles what am I getting for 1500$... ... ... . I guess one trip to the dealer without it after 3/36 I would learn... ... . have had "0"problems to this point... . feel like

Open up your owners manual, mine tells what is covered by the engine warranty, turbo, injectors and injection pump should most definantly be covered. Personally I wouldn't pay that kind of money for an extended warranty, you already have a 5 or maybe 7/100 on the engine and you should have a 7/70 powertrain warranty. What's left? Power windows, locks, radio, just trivial little things that you can get alot of for $1500. A friend of mine lost his money from an extended warranty when the company went belly up. Put that $1500 in a CD and let it build, if you don't have any problems you're money ahead if you do you can take that money and pay the bill. Just my 2 cents

Here's the website for the Chrysler Service Contracts

Is your dealer offering the Chrysler contract or a 3rd party one? I had a Warranty Gold contract on a Saturn we had and then the underwriter went TU. We had used the warranty some before that, but had over $1000 in repairs that the car needed after they were out of business. When I bought my 04. 5 CTD, I got the Chrysler 7/100 $100 ded. for $1995, which is about $300 off the website price. There are many repairs that can be well over $1000, like an AC compressor, etc. In the past, I have had a tendency to trade vehicles when they start costing me money is repairs. I figure with the pre-paid service contract, that temptation will be significantly reduced.

I don't think a warranty is such a bad idea and like Klenger said, "make very sure it is a Chrysler sponsered warranty". The extended warranty I bought on my 02 covered everything except belts hoses and brakes so it was very good. It was 1495. When I traded it in I canceled the warranty and still got 1200 back.

first off you shop for an extended warranty untill you find the best deal. you can call any dealer and tell them what mileage and time limit you are looking for. also that 5 yr warranty starts from original purchase date. you have 3 yrs 36000 ,so you are paying for 2 yrs of coverage. anything over $900. for 5 yrs 100,000 is a rip off,big time. the best thing to do is do your home work. why pay for something you already have.

If your like most of us on this web site you will most likely be making some up grades to your engine for better mileage or more hp and if you do you won't have any warranty, extended or any other.
