I need to get my girlfriends 98. 5 3500 in the shop to get looked at. It seems to be losing power when pulling the horse trailer. We have taken the truck to Desert Diesel in Tucson a couple of time but just don’t get a warm fuzzy about the quality of the work. The truck will be running along fine and then just lose power under load. Drop the truck back to 4th or even third and eventually the RPMs will pick up and it will take off again. I know the truck has had a lift pump and a VP replaced before. The truck has not done this while I have been driving so I can’t get a better description of the problem.

You might try Strictly Diesel in Scottsdale: 480. 922. 8768. Excellent work and decent prices.

I called Strictly Diesel and the guy I talked to was very helpful and did some calling around also to look at different options.

I will have to call him today to let him know we won’t be bringing the truck up there. After talking on the phone I would trust the shop to do good work, but the price is out of the range we are willing to pay again for this problem.

Did you try Fred? he is a little ways away from Scottsdale. And I would be willing to bet that those boyz in $cott$dale get a little more money than anyone around. Just an opinion though.

I tried the second number and never got an answer. I ended up ordering the parts from Doug at Diesel Performance Warehouse and will be doing the VP swap myself and adding a FASS

Well thanks to members of the board I got the VP and the FASS put on at a small shop in Tucson called Just for fun Automotive. The owner Don was able to work on the truck with very short notice and didnt mind that we had already bought the parts. Truck is still a dog when pulling but at least it is running. Saving up now for a turbo, injectors and a box.
