What is a good source for internally lighted, push button switches which could be used for fog lights, driving lights, etc. ? Does anyone know of an website that handles these?
While Granger is a great source for all kinds of items I've found them to be a little lacking in the automotive dept. If these guys don't have what you want no one does. Inexpensive too.
You might also check to see if you have a local electronics store that does a lot of commercial business. There is one here in Eureka that if they don't have what I need they can get it quick.
I'm also looking for a good source... trying to find a momentary on switch for use with my air horn. I need a seperate switch from the OEM horn as my wife thinks I'm going to give some little old lady a heart attack using the Hadley as my only horn.
I seem to remember seeing a photo someone posted with a big red push button switch for their air horn installed above the gauges on the instrument panel, just can't remember when I saw it. ( I'm having more of those senior moments as the time goes by )
i've had good luck with both digikey and mouser. good prices and a great selection! Digikey has great prices on individual LED's as well. In fact, got my new 904 page free catalog from Digikey in Monday.
I got some internally lighted toggle switches at a Western Star truck dealership. Apparently on the new trucks they have switched to lighted rockers that look really heavy duty. You'd have to visit a parts counter at the dealership. The one problem I had with mine is that there is no wiring diagram. I had to figure it out myself. It was worth the time though. The look great.
One source is radioshack.com, who can supply all the stuff in red print in the store catalog and much more. This way you could color-code switches but still match trim styles for a professional look. Their prices are reasonable and their shipping (unlike alot of mailorder houses) has remained sane. They are very prompt in getting stuff out to you as well. (and no, I don't work for Radio Shack - but sometimes it seems like I live there!!) For illuminated switches you may want to consider (or already have) LED illuminated devices which eliminated bulb changes and gives a more diffused light.
