Just wondering if anyones run these tires in 305/70/17? Or any size for that matter. If so, what'd ya think? Likes/dislikes, buy again/stay away from? Just looking at a tire site and these tires were rated third out of ten and BFG MT's were rated sixth. I run BFG's and love 'em but they don't make 'em in this size. Just wanting to go with the tallest tire w/o a lift or rubbing concerns. Oh, truck is an '04. 5 dually.

Many thanks.

I can't comment on the application on a cummins but a friend of mine had some on his chevy 3/4 ton and loved them. I rode in the truck and they weren't as noisy as they looked like they would be and they seemed to last him a long time. I know he wants more. That is what I know.

I have 285's on my SRW Cummins. The MT/R is a pretty soft compound tire, so it will wear pretty quick. I have 10K on mine and the rears are about halfway gone. They are good in the dry and deep snow, but can be downright scary in the rain and ice. I haven't used them offroad yet but i'm sure thats were they really shine. They ride pretty quite. My friend has BFG Muds on a Ramcharger and they can be loud. After these wear out I'm going to a 295 Nitto.

I have a set on a 3/4 chevy 4x4 that I use to feed cattle with. Can not tell you about tread life, because the tires do not see a whole lot of asphalt, but when I have driven them on the highway they are not as loud as you would expect. They clean out fairly well in the mud. No snow or ice in Waco, Texas to try them in. The only real complaint that I have with them is that I could not tget them in load range E for the size tire that I want.

I had them on a couple other vehicles -- '94 Tahoe and '03 Silverado Z71. I loved them on both. The tread compound is soft and therefore traction is great in a lot of conditions. For a soft compound, I think they wear well -- about 30k per set. Good traction on dry pavement, couldn't hydroplane on water if I tried, GREAT in the snow, mud, and gravel. They don't chew up on gravel like a lot of tires do. The road noise was quite a bit less than other similar tires. Check out the user feedback tire rating on them at www.tirerack.com for a broader view...

I am currently running those exact tires on the '03, they have awsome traction, I really like them. I run a 2 inch lift and they just clear if you turn the wheel and stuff. The one thing I hate about them is that they are really noisy in the cab, I ran them on my old '01 and they were not that noisy, I dont know if these new trucks have as much insulation or what, but all and all I love the tire. My last ones I had 56,000 miles out of and my buddy got 58,000 on 285/75/r16. I have 10,000 on these and they have not shown signs of wear yet.

I am running two sets right now on my off-roaders. I have 285/75-16s on one truck and 35x12. 5-15s on the other. I don't notice that the tires are too loud, not for a MT tire for sure. I like the BFG ATs MUCH better in the snow. The MT-R seems to be holding up better for sidewall punctures off road but is not as good in the mud as the BFG MT. The only real complaint I have heard was from a buddy who blew one out on a Death Valley trip. He was running 70 mph at low pressure, he claims a BFG would not have done that, I'm not so sure. They seem to be pretty good tires unlike most of Goodyears line up. Unless I planned extremely serious off roading though, I would run the BFG AT's, I find them to be an excellent all around tire and have them on both of my non dually Dodges in 285/70-17.

Ive got MTR's on my rockcrawling Jeep. . I love em. . 45k miles with half tread or so left, but obviously you'll get less mileage outta a fullsize truck... Im going with 305/70/17's when its time for new.

I have the 35 12. 50 15's on my 2001 TJ Wrangler and they are ok even though I dont like the gas milage they give. I should have bought the all terrains instead of the mud terrains.

I have been running the 37/12. 50/17 E rated Goodyear MT/R's for about 20K miles. They are the best and toughest off road tire I have ever used. On road handling is truly amazing for a tire so large. My truck handles like an 8000 lb rallye car. Maybe that has something to do with the KORE suspension? At 20K I still have 60% tread wear available. Wish they would wear out a little faster, I want to try the new 37" Toyo. You might check out that tire too. I think it is a 33/12. 50/17 E Mud Terrain. The new Toyo has the thickest sidewall I have ever seen. Great tire too, quieter than a BFG A/T on the hwy.
