I am probably overlooking it, and can't find it on the search feature (if it's working), but there is a recent thread about Goodyear replacing a bunch of trailer tires. Read it at the time and didn't pay too much attention, but it really has me interested now since I have purchased a fifth wheel trailer with Goodyear tires. Could someone repeat the information. Thanks.

Marathon 225x75R15 were being replaced with the same tire only with a Circle S on them to designate the new tire.

Goodyear replaced all five of my tires.

Call Goodyear Customer Service if you have that tire type and they should help you arrange for a replacement at your nearest Goodyear dealer.

The tires suffered from serious separation and ruined a few undersides of trailers. Three of my five were coming apart.

this also applies to goodyear wrangler ht [238/85/16] they are replaced w g/y wrangler ht (s) [(s)= circle s] on silent recall mine were replaced a year& 1/2ago ,only had to pay mount ing and balance

Goodyear replaced my 225/75R/15 Marathons last summer with the new circle "S" marthons (including the spare). I told the Customer Service worker the Goodyear dealer I wished to use and it was arranged in about 15 minutes. It was a hassle free situation for me.

AS this is being written, My RVing buddy/guest is out under his Alpenlite repairing the SECOND bunch of damage to his trailer done by yet another Goodyear blowout...

NOT for MY money!

The Goodyear rep that I dealt with stated that Goodyear would pay for damages caused from a tire failure. The tire would need to be checked first to determine if failure was cause by a product defect or from overloading, under inflation, etc.

I have the Marathon tires on my 99 Travellaire so went and spoke to the local Goodyear Store and he told me yes bring them in. So rather than hauling the trailer down I took them off and took them to the dealer only to find that he says " you know they are pro-rated for tire wear" And as they are 34% worn they want around 70$ Canadian for new ones including balancing. I told him that I didn't think that was happening with other owners with these tires and that I would phone GoodYear to find out.

Are there any Canadian members that have had their tires replaced and at what cost? I am not going to put them back on but I don't want to pay if I don't have to. If I had of picked up on this sooner I would not have just put 22,500 klms on it to wear them down to 34%

I just bought four new Goodyear Marathons in 215/78-14 6-ply. They have no (S) but they were made in 2002 according to the stampings. Made in Canada.

I haven't called Goodyear yet, but I am presuming they are the good ones since so new.

Does anyone know if the 14" tires should have the (S)?

Thanks,

Blake

I called Goodyear about the same thing. Their response was they would replace the tires free of charge if less than 25% wear and pro-rated after that.

In my case the dealer for Goodyear - Beverly Tire said they couldn't get the tires, they were on backorder. I went to Canadian Tire who could order 1 directly from Goodyear and carried that as an additional spare.

To cut a long story short I had 3 blow outs on our recent trip and have calculated my out of pocket cost as $934. I have sent a stinging letter to Goodyear slagging their dealer so we'll see what happens.

Too bad you have to get ornery to get any action.

FWIW Wayne Barnes is the Pres. & C. E. O. for Goodyear Canada

Good luck

I have the Goodyear Marathon ST 225/75R15 tires on my fifth whee. I called the local dealer and they denied there is any type of recall or replacement policy. Did you guys who got tires replaced have to call the Goodyear factory first??

Thanks,

Dennis

Call operator for number customer rep at Good Year tire and rubber co. And tell them what the local dealer said they know that its not a silent recall but that Good Year will stand by there product and exchange for faulty tires ,if your tires have NO circle after the marathon logo on tire they will exchange if less than 25 percent ware over that pro -rate . Its a toll free 800 number . HOPE this helps . Ron in LOUISVILLE KY:D Oo. Oo. Oo.

It has to be a Goodyear store, my regular tire shop who is a Goodyear dealer knew nothing about it but the Goodyear store told me no problem. There is no recall on these tires just a replacement policy by Goodyear.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for me the tires I have are Load Range C and do not qualify for the Goodyear program. Perhaps this information will help some of the rest... .

This is from an email I received directly from Goodyear:

Thank you for contacting our web site and thank you for taking the time to

inform us that you feel you have received deviant information in reference

to Goodyear's Trailer Tires.

Factually there have been no recalls on Goodyear tires for several years.

You may be referring to a trade up program we have offered with regards

the new Marathon S tire. This tire is available in the ST225/75R15 load

range D size only. If you have this size and are interested in trading in

your old Marathon tires for the newer version Marathon S we need the

following.

Once the current tire information such as tread has been confirmed by an

authorized Goodyear location, the tire replacement price depends on the

current tire's tread depth. If the tire has more than 25% wear you will be

both responsible for the prorate amount as well as any applicable service

fees and taxes. If the tire has under 25% wear the tire will be replaced at

no charge and you will be responsible for any applicable service fees and

taxes.

If you do meet the following guidelines assistance will be offered:

· You have the old construction ST225/75R15 in a load range D

· The tires were manufactured in 1993 or later years

· Tire(s) do not have "S" for new overlay construction

All you need to do is visit an authorized Goodyear location, present them

with the tires; they should inspect you tire(s) and call Consumer Relations

1-800-321-2136 or me directly at 1-330-796-6686 regarding file #571668.

dbarker,

Yes on load range D & no on load range C is the same as I was told a month ago when I called the Goodyear Consumer Relations 800 Number.

Icalled Goodyear

on my ST205/75/14 load range C tires and was told there is no problem with this tire. My Trailer only wieghs 3400 empty and I've towed it probably 20K so far so good. I wish someone made a really bullet proof trailer tire. My rig is a single axle and it's kind of worrisome.

LOL Rich B:eek:

I see you did a little "typo" here. I have the HT 205/85/16", is that what you ment to type or was it 235/85/16? Sure hate to see my PS front tire blow out, Fleetwood has a propane pipe, complete with "T's" where the soft copper lines attach, right in front of the tire! I have seen several reports on the web where folks are trying to get fleetwood to recall it, but they have not done it yet, I guess there has not been enough fires yet, or Fleetwood will say "why do you have the propane on while driving?"

Our previous 30' 5ver had the non-circle-S 15" Marathons. We had a tread separation that damaged the 5ver - Goodyear replaced the tires with circle-S Marathons and paid to repair the 5ver. We had no more problem with the circle-S Marathons.

Our current 36' 5ver came with LT235/85R-16 Wrangler HT's (with the S) and has never had a tire problem.
