Has anyone had this issue. I have a 95 when I am backing up or if I pump the brakes the brake and abs light comes on, the pedal gets hard and I loose my breaks. Do I have a bad vacum pump?

Check your vaccume hose right above the pump. Mine started getting soft and would pinch itself off causing me your same problems.

On my Ford, I had a leaking vacuum booster. I was loosing the vac, and got a hard pedal.

Before the new booster, I only had 6" vac. Afterwards, I had 26" vac.

Just had the same problem with my son's 95. It was the hose from the pump to the booster. It deteriorates inside and collapses. There was a recall out on that and depending on your VIN number it might be covered. If not it was only about $30. 00 for the new improved fluid resistant hose and it works like new.
