Some how this thread turned into a gooseneck adapter discussion, but it is an interesting topic that many seem to be interested in. I run one and like it so far, but that's just me.
You might also want to do some research over at iRV2.com regarding gooseneck adapters and see what you find.

The following is an excerpt from the website for the Cody Coupler gooseneck adapter:

A word of caution is in order about the use of the Cody Coupler! Because of its design, additional pressure may be placed on the "King Pin" of the trailer it is mounted on. This is a result of the leveraging action involved. Because of this, we feel it is wise to mention several steps that should be taken by the owner of such a rig. These are "common sense" suggestions that could and should apply to any type of trailer hook-up.

REGULARLY INSPECT THE INSTALLATION OF THE COUPLER

Make certain the "King Pin" is securely attached to the Pin Box. Occasionally, additional reinforcement might be advisable. (Emphasis mine. )

AVOID THE "POP-A-WHEELY SYNDROME"

Smooth, even starts and stops are always better than the jerky motion.

TRAILER BRAKES SHOULD ALWAYS BE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER!

And properly hooked up.

Caveat emptor!

I just installed the conversion 5er to a goosneck. Just getting rid of all that fifth wheel stuff inthe bed is awesome. I do agree with the issue of some conversions where the king pin is extended out past the "box" this was my situation, My brother a certified welder extended it for me when I owned a shortbed now that I own a longbed I am going to have him move it back because I was getting some "flex" out of it . Go Gooseneck nothing to do except flip the ball over. Plus nothing to steal justput the ball in your glove box

With my B&W setup, I have a proper gooseneck hitch, a proper 5th wheel hitch and a clean bed when neither is in use. One does not have to risk tearing up a 5th wheel trailer to have a clean bed.

Mopar part #s

Can You plz post the #s for the lowering blocks so I can drop the back of my 98. 5. I have just bought a 5er and my 3500 4x4 is just too tall. It hooks up but it is just a little too close for me.

Thanks, Tim :)

I have run into the same problem as well and the solution that i have come up with is... If you want to raise the truck via lift kit or tires or both, in order to get a trailer riding level again you need to put a flatbed body on. That way you adjust all you want on the trailer hitch and still not have a clearence problem. I just ordered the steel to make mine hope fully over the winter time i will get it done.
