Fellow brakesmart guys, need help on a setting

Ball hitch mounting location for gooseneck

2007 3500 C&C with the Fuel tank in rear makes it difficult to remount hydraulic flatbeds from previous year trucks. Bed can be lengthened to the front, but makes goosneck ball location to the rear of axle. Can move ball forward some, but afraid of rear corner clearance issues with trailer. Anyone done amy hauling with a slightly rearward ball location?

Yes, I have rigged out medium duty trucks that way because of the rear corner clearance problems and it worked out very well; however, the GVWR and the GAWR on those trucks is twice that of your 3500. You have to be very careful since the hitch ball weight will unload the front axle and cause serious steering and control problems. You might see if you can get the gooseneck rebuilt longer to accommodate the extra bed length. Some gooseneck trailer manufacturers will build the goosenecks long enough to accommodate longer truck beds.
