Installing a 5W hitch on 3rd gen

Towing Question

Just got my new 07 mega cab dually with the short bed :)

Anybody got a gooseneck installed that I can get some measurements from? I own a 99 Quad cab 2500 and have the B&W turnover ball installed and I have 35. 50" of clearance from the center of the ball to the rear glass. I called B&W and they say that their hitch for 06-07's will result in 31. 375" of clearance. I am looking for anyone who can give me the clearance on their particular setup before I get a new hitch or offset adapter . Thanks

I have the b&w turnover ball and a mega cab, I tow a weekend warrior 5er converted to goose. I went with the 9 inch offset conversion and I still needed the 4 inch offset ball. that being said I can come close to 90 degress but not quite. it looks like the 31 inches is about right. if I had to do it over again I would not go with the goose. .

Thanks for the link to the extender arkapigdiesel , are you using one? And if it's not too much to ask can you measure from the glass to the center of your ball for me? I used a straight edge vertically at the ball and measured to the glass on my 99 and got 35. 50" B&W says it should be 31. 375" on our 3rd gens. BParke I could probably get by on mine with a 4"-5" offset if the 31. 375" measurement is correct , did you measure yours or just Eyeball it? hate to second guess you but I need accurate measurements.

Thanks again guys for the info and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

GTSM,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not using one, but when I buy the B&W companion 5th wheel hitch I'll buck up and get the extender also. I'll also measure from my back glass to the center of my ball and post the measurements here. Have a Happy New Year!
