Dumb question about towing with auto trans

we run a 9" extension from popup on out gooseneck flatbed trailer and pull it with the wifes 01 short box quad cab we like it and its preaty stout

With a change in pivot point like you are considering, think about how that might affect the trailer loading on your truck, maybe less front end loading affecting handling, more rear loading, and if that is something you want to live with?

From the thumbnail that looks like a pretty big trailer, and maybe mountains, uphill, downhill, weather might make the total rig handle differently than you are expecting?

I use the Pop Up extensions on ALL my trailers. There is NO change to the pivot point, my trailers pull just like they did before the extension was added. The ball STILL connects to the hitch in the same place, just moves the trailer back for better clearances. I have both the 9" and the 16" extensions, have used them both on my GN horse trailers, GREAT PRODUCTS!!!! I also have their 5er to GN adapter with the 9" extension on my 5er, it also performs GREAT.

It does not change the trailer loading and handling. The hitch IS installed in the same position as any 8' bed, just foreward of the axle. It is a wonderful solution for a short bed truck, and the prices are more than livable as compared to the sliders, etc. I pull an 8'widex32'long GN horse trailer with large LQ, similar to the one in the picture, 3 draft horses slant-up (about 9K of horses) over the axles plus the rest of the trailer weight and NO problems. It pulls just the same as it did with my old truck and an 8' bed.

I have a friend who got one for her 24' GN horse trailer. She says it take out 'all the bumps' that the roads have in them!!! I towed her trailer once with it and I have to say it does what they claim, those expansion boards they use on the freeways are really terrible, that thing made them go away. I wish they made them with the offsets, all my trailers would have gotten them.

Thanks!!! I knew that they would be coming out with them soon, guess NOW is the time to start changing to the CUSHY ones. They really improve the ride on freeways, etc. Just no real bumps so to speak out of the raod or the trailer.

The cushioned ones are 9" offset, I believe. They also make an offset (18" or so) that would allow using a full width square front gooseneck trailer with a short bed Mega Cab, but those are not cushioned... :(
