Need Tires

Get the biggest shear weight you can!! In the event of an accident, you'd be hatin' life if the g/n pin was the weak link in the chain!

I paid around $450. installed fot an Atwood goosneck hitch. Its a fold down. The welding shop welded all kinds of support between the frame and the hitch. Took them about 2 hours. My guess is the bed will never come off this truck without a torch. Be advised, if you are getting a spray on liner, do the hitch first. I did mine after the liner and it chipped and pealed since the Line x guy was too lazy to do a complete sanding of my bed.

K&N filter, Line X spray on liner that chips everytime I haul something, WORTHLESS CHRYSLER 7/100,000 WARANTY, First name basis with Enterprise Rent a Car and my local AAA tow truck driver.

I made my own at a cost of about 100 bucks. If I did it again though I would get a B&W turnover ball setup. This is the way to go if you want a quick bolt in job. I just helped my brother install one in his 97 Ram and it took less than 2 hours and used existing holes in the frame. Cost $325 at the local hitch shop.

Oh-Oh Phil, your truck just became more of a lemon. You're not supposed to weld on the frames of these Dodges,it can cause the frame to crack,I've seen it happen. Gooseneck hitches should always be bolted on.

B&W Turn Over Ball in my '97 pulling a 38' Pace Bigfoot Auto Transport. Totally bolt in, clean and leaves the bed completely clear when not hitched up. I cut a flap in my rubber mat to pass the ball through and with the ball flipped you cannot even tell there is a hitch on it!

My 10 year old son and I installed it. The hardest part was painting the edge of the 4" cutout in the bed. In other words it went in really well and I am very satisfied. Visit their website for complete detailed instructions. It comes in 2 boxes with a shipping weight right at 100 pounds. (They include shipping in the price)

In my opinion it is the only way to go! NO rails, multi-pins or extra parts to store when not in use. And a 30,000 pound rating!

Jeff,

I was actually looking around to getting a G/N exactly like you. But I ended up changing my mind. First off, I have to say that I am really impressed with the Air Ride Hitches (www.airridehitches.com). Second, I have talked to many people that have told me to change out the hitch on the trailer from a G/N to a Kingpin. You can purchase a kit that does this and all the sudden your G/N trailer is now a fifth wheel. Many people have told me that Fifth Wheels pull better then Goosenecks... and you don't have as much torque ON the Bed. Again. . this is just what I was told. No problems so far.

I have a 20K Reese for pulling 5th wheels. My Take 3 Car trailer had a goosneck. I got tired of changing the hitches back and forth so for $65 a welding shop made a King Pin to slide up the tube on the car trailer and now I just use the Reese hitch for every thing.

B&W all the way around - about $300, and a clean bed when pulle out (I carry a lot of cabinet grade sheetgoods in my truck when not pulling the trailer and it doesn't scratch them up)
