I rode in a 24V 2500 QC LWB today that had a complete Goerend transmission in it. The truck had 40HP injectors, and a Edge Comp pierced. The transmission shifted VERY smoothly, but when moderate to heavy pedal was applied the transmission responded by KICKING THE TRUCK IN THE REAR! Oo. :-laf

We did a few burnouts, and the guy did a Pier's style turn-around in the middle of the street (brought the boost up, floored it, and cut the wheel all the way to the left  ) I was hanging on for dear life in the backseat. :-laf

After that the guy proceeded to come through the curve sideways directly after turning around! :--) ... ... oh yeah did I mentioned this was @ Lebanon, TN's Cedar City Diesel grand opening... . :-laf ... check it out in the Southeast forum.

Anyhow I was blown away by this transmission... ... . and for what the guy paid you couldn't touch a full transmission from XXX company. I definately know where I'm getting my transmission/parts for when I pick up a 3500 in a year or two. Oo.

I personaly Pick my next Bomb and research ,,, research ,,,research , And I spend MY MONEY where I think is best For me

I'd say Smokes is doing his research. Starting a thread on a specific brand, to get the good, bad, and the ugly on the product, without having info jumbled in, involving the other brands.

Makes sense to me. This thread doesn't need to go down the same road yours did. You broke 2 of your own rules that you posted on your thread. If you won't keep to them, why expect anyone else too?

Just a thought.

Who mentioned Childish? I'm sorry DM... . You and I may get along great in person. But I won't loose any sleep if you do put me on ignore. The knowledge that we may not exchange would be your loss.

See my above post about my ride in a Goerend Bros. equipped truck this weekend..... I'm still :--) about it... . and it'll be a while before I get in a truck with THAT guy again! :-laf

I just had to have my transmission rebuilt, fried the primary clutch pack. Spoke to Dave about symptoms I was experiencing, learned alot. Had what is called a "flash" between 2nd and 3rd gear shift. Since I had one of Dave's triple disk torque converters, he suggested that he send a replacement out incase we needed a tc for the rebuild. Even though my problems were not a result of Dave's converter, he sent me one, told me it was part of the lifetime warrenty.

How can you beat a company like this?

He even set it up so UPS will pick up from my house via his company, to save me a few $ on shipping. It does not get any better than this. Goerend Bros. ROCK!

What is your agenda here? The only bashing I hear of this company is from you and your boyfriend. EVERYONE else who actually has his products can't say enough about his products and service.

People like you should shut up unless they know what they are talking about. I was debating between suncoast, and goerend(this is how you spell it BTW), and suncoast can thank you for a lost sale.

I second this comment, and I ask for an explanation of your post stating you've heard bad things about "Goerend parts". That's funny I have YET! to hear of a failure of any of Dave Goerend's parts and I've been watching/reading about his products for about a year or so now when they first became popular and talked about on DTR before they were talked about here.

GBT simply the best.

Watch out guys if Daves transmissions and torque converters are almost stock, when he puts his mind to building a modified version. HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT. I read a post somewhere this week a guy cracked his windshield on his Ram from body torque on a wet road yet. Now he's talking technical about mechanical parts. LOTFLMAO !!!!

Dave makes a sweet tc if you ask him too. my dad has a gb transmission in his truck with a tripple disc, and in my tuck i have the same transmission from dave but with a "trick" tripple. one wicked convertor. hey DM call dave ans ask about his Trick tripple. back to the subject. as far as his trannys go, hands down best bang for your buck. i broke a input shaft and he sent me one and me and Josh Peters replaced it in a night. i sled pull, drag race, and pound the heck out of it and just keeps going. oh and im at 410/891. so it holds up, thats what i want.

DM,

I don't get you at all, Holysmokes started the thread asking about Goerend trans, the good the bad and the ugly. Guys responded, all positively, then you jump in here and it goes down hill from there. Since you don't have a GB transmission what the heck are you doing here? Its turned into kinda a DDT vs ATS thread but more along the lines of a GB vs DM thread. Tell me one transmission vendor other than Dave's designed for a diesel that will give you a lifetime warrenty on the TC? I'm sure Dave has forgotten more about transmissions than you will ever know, stock huh? Dave's transmissions work and he stands behind his warrenty. I toasted my trans towing a large trailer up a pretty good mtn, wasn't Dave's product that went south, but he took the time to send me out a replacement tc, now I've got first hand knowlege of working with GB trans and all I can say is I am proud to be running with his product.

Your mileage may vary,

OK DM... . Enough. How about this... . I bought Suncoast stuff. I had/have (cant' get rid of the crap) Suncoast Valvebody and Torque Converter. At about 300hp I was slipping their Single Disc Converter. After Talking with Joe... the one and ONLY tech specialist they have down there... . He told me to check the pressures on the transmission. No Problem. I did and they were within specs. His response. Rebuild it. Why... the pressures are fine, and it's shifting fine. He couldn't give me an answer. Just rebuild it. So after tryign to track someone down with knowlege, I went 6 months with a slipping converter. Why... because Suncoast wanted me to Pull the converter and Send it to him so he could rebuild it and send it back! WTF? Why not send me one, I'll do a swap, send the bad one back and be on my way! His response... "No company does that. " Humm... DTT will, Goerends will... and I believe ATS will.

Anyway..... So I've got this slipping converter which I believe shed enough clutch material to then smoke the rest of the trans. Enter Goerends.

Now if you think that Goerends stators are stock, you are sadly mistaken. I have personally seen every one of Daves different designs. If they are so close to stock why does he have a patent on a stator?

The Shift kit... . Wow you double talk. You yourself said that yes it's a Dunrite shift kid but Dave has his own mods to it. And that's true. Why reinvent the wheel? Do you know what Suncoast does for a shift kit? How do you know it's not just a "reinvented" Dunrite? If I had the valve body out of my truck... . I'd pull them both appart and take pictures and measurements. Show you what the "difference" is.

As far as driving someone away..... We told him what the facts are. You kept bringing up the other things. YOU and YOU alone are the reason that he went your way. There were no arguments till you came in here.

Ask Joe about the Suncoast warranty..... if there is one... ...

100,000 Mile Trans warranty

Lifetime Converter Warranty... ... And he'll send me the parts if I need them!

Now that's facts:

Josh

I agree with JP

I have a Suncoast Flexplate and have nothing bad to say about the company as I have NEVER DRIVEN one of thier trucks. I did have a short conversation with one of the Suncoast guys that is a member here and knowing I have a Goerends Transmission he said "Dave builds a good transmission".

Skargo,

don't let Simpleminded (sp?) turn you off. Call and talk to the parties your self and get a couple of test rides. I can't imagine a better product or service than with GB but who knows :-laf

Steve, thanks a lot for doing a great job. I was wondering how long someone would let this go on. Dave is an outstanding guy. I can say that because I have one of his trannys. :D

Have a GB transmision for 2 yr and pull 28' 5 wheel and boat and works good. Dodge rebuilt trans once because sliping and still would not hold up. Had problem with tourke converter lockup and exhaust brake lock. The tps was noisy Dave did a tsb wiring change, sent me to a Dodge dealer to reflash ECM and did an upgrade on trans all at no cost to me. The problem was all related to the tps and nothing to do with his transmision.
