Reading TDR 105 today I saw an article by James Langan on the Gorilla lug nuts, item 66148, which I would like to purchase. Don't see them at Geno's and checked Amazon. Nothing there. Checked the Gorilla website and they don't sell to the public. Nothing at O'Rileys or Summit for our trucks. Or NAPA. Where the heck did he get these? The set of 32 using that number does not show up on a search either but the company does list them. I plan to call them tomorrow to see if I can locate a vendor but I sure wish James would have let us know where he found them. Maybe Geno's needs to carry them. Mine need replacing due to the NASCAR treatment at Costco and I seem to recall discussion on this forum about the issue. If I find them at a national source I will post the info here.

You sure did better with Google than I did. Maybe the number I posted is for the 32 pack. I was not having any luck with the number mentioned in the article. The writer said he bought these for $65. I suppose the blister packaging drives the price for 32 up to $200. As for Costco, the original lugs are a two piece affair and if abused, the clamshell covering will distort. To quote them on the invoice, "Lugs are starting to swell up and will eventually round off. Some lugs came off a little choppy. Recommend getting new lugs to have on hand for when needed."

The comment about coming off choppy concerns me because I had to replace all 32 of the studs on my 2004.5 RAM due to the high speed on/off treatment. many were looking like they were cross threaded but I think the threads were just compressed. That cost a bundle besides being difficult to get over the counter. Special order stuff. When I picked those up, the NAPA counter man said I was the third person recently needing those so he knew the part number and problem. I rotated the 2014 tires about one year ago before buying new tires and the lugs came off fine and no problem going back on. So I know their guns caused the problem.

I have experienced many difficult to remove lug nuts on my truck and was worried about stripping etc but eventually traced the problem to the steel threads getting lightly filled with aluminum from the forged aluminum wheels on the truck.

IOW, during a tire replacement or rotation, removing and replacing the heavy wheels during over the stud threads leaves small particles of aluminum in the threads. Cleaning the studs and lug nuts with some WD40 and a Dremel tool rotary brush fixed the problem for me!!!

I ended up looking up the part number on the summit web site then typing it in on Amazon that was how I found them. Price for 32 was around $68 with free shipping

Good to know both of the above replies. Thanks and I will try Amazon again. E...what part number did you use? On Amazon I just looked up the 66147DX (according to the specs a shorter nut) and I don't see a 32 pack.

Also tried the 66147CX. Maybe you have a different number.

66147 there was a review on Summit those were 2pc like the OEM ones, some other variations on Summit said they were also only 1 year warranty on that number.

So double check for sure what exactly your looking for.

I do my own tires. 18V 1/2 cordless impact every time, torqued to spec by hand on re-installation, use quality sockets, and on a wide range of Chrysler products. I get about three seasonal change overs before a few of them begin to fail in a set. **added on edit** this is with Chrysler lug nuts.

Would like to see if these Gorillas hold up better.

They are one piece. I had them on my truck for the last year. Only reason I took them off was they didn’t fit the new ProComp wheels

Thanks. I'm about to call the company. Figure they will be open by 0900 down in SoCal. Will post my results. The style you bought might be a good replacement if the "Lifetime" lugs are not available.

Whoda thunk this could be so hard. Two stories here. First, I called Gorilla and spoke to a fellow who led me to some of the suppliers mentioned above. He also clarified the part numbers 66147 and the impossible to find 66148. 147 is the four pack and the 148 is a "bag" of lug nuts sold by them to the retailers. But I have not been able to find the bag amount anywhere. Calling Summit, I was led to part number 76845 ($78.99) which is a pack of 32 and contains four locking nuts. Looking at reviews I find that all these so far are two piece lug nuts, much like the originals. So it appears you spend $21.99 x 8 to get the same lug nuts but without the locks. At least the descriptions are the same.

The other story is that I have an Apple computer and the go to search engine is on a program called Safari. My daughter installed Google Chrome which is also a search engine but I don't use it. At least I didn't before now. Turns out the fellow on Gorilla's tech line was pulling up on line businesses they sell to but I was not seeing the same info. Once I used the Chrome, I saw what he was seeing, and what many of you were seeing. Since then, I searched the sites that carry the Gorilla brand and found Summit 76845 seem to be the best choice in that brand if you don't mind the four lock nuts for which you could not lose the socket. Or maybe buy one pack of four 66147 to replace those.

Found that Summit has a six minute video on lug nut types and uses. Informative and includes our diesel truck lug nut. There are a lot of other brands out there and I did not find an explanation for the Lifetime Gorilla lug nut, or what the warranty would be. And not all of theirs are advertised as Lifetime. So it might not matter which one we chose as long as it's the correct 60 degree taper, 2 inch length and 14mmx 1.50. And in chrome or black. I was on one website, OTC I believe, and there was over 20 pages of lug nuts to sort through and none were mine. Good grief! Now I should just order the Summit lugs and try to put all this nonsense out of my aging brain.

These sure look like 1 pc lug nuts.

If you ull the trigger and let us know how you make out.

Bringing this back to the top. Has anyone used the Gorilla nuts on chrome clad wheels? I've read of a review that said the center caps do not clip on to these but the length was not included in the review.

I purchased the 61147XL lifetime lug nuts from Summit Racing 4 years ago. $119.00 for all 32. I have the 3500 SRW Laramie trim. Length is perfect. No issues getting them.
