1998. 5 Dodge Ram 3500. 260K miles
Need some advise if you can help. I have been reading TDR for years but now I've come to my first post. For the last year when driving around 55-to 70 mph and after about 30 minutes or more the the engine will slowly lose power and the boost wiill fall. But when I accelerate a little the engine comes back to life. It will do this for awhile then clears up only to start up again later on. If I am on cruise control (does this with or without cruise on) and the problem starts the cruise control will continaly speed the engine up then drop until it buggs me to that point and shut it off. It also does this with the edge plugged in or unplugged. It almost seems like the fuel is slowly being shut off or the turbo is leaking but I have installed a new turbo and it is still doing it so I kind of eliminated that possibilty and I have changed the filter with no results.
There is no codes and I don't have a fuel gauge but I have a low fuel pressure warning light that has never come on when the engine is running.
I'm out of ideas except thinking it's either the VP-44 or the TPS. The VP-44 pump is only 4 years old and the TPS is about 6 years old. I have a new MAP sensor and air temp so that's out.
Hopefully somone else has had this problem and can steer me the right direction. Without codes or nothing standing out I have been chasing a gost and throwing money at parts that don't fix the problem. . Thanks
