Ok got my injectors today, gonna try to install them this weekend if I'm not hunting and I have some questions.

#ad

It came with this install kit. Now I imagine the new injectors fit down inside the rubber/plastic boots into the head and I know where the return line washers go. However It came with 3 extra sets of copper washers in addition to the ones on the injector. Set 1 is the thinnest set 3 is the thickest, while the ones already on the injectors are about a pennies thickness somewhere in between set 2 & 3. Any suggestions on which set I should use? I was under the impression the 300's had the wrong spray angle for our engines, will one set of these washers help make up for that? Also where do the rubber washers go? I figure most all this would be self explanitory once I tear into it but it cant hurt to ask.

You have a universal dipaco injector reseal kit for the B5. 9. Its good stuff!

The six rubber boots are not used (At the top of your photo).

The six orings fit around the top of the injector to help seal FOD from getting between the hold down nut and injector body. Install these after the injector hold down nuts are torq. d and before you install the drain lines or the injection lines.

The thick washers are not used (24 valve). If the spray angle is similar to the 370's then use the thin ones. Does your vendor recommend the medium ones?. Or you can use the thinner ones as BPonci recommends (perhaps he has them too, if so follow his advice). Altough, it appears they have the med. thickness on them now.

Are they used (although your post said new, often new injectors will come with the oem sealing ring) injectors? Have the sealing washers on the injectors been used/compressed. Slide one off? The side that faces the injector body may have an indent / recess indicating its previous use?

Let us know how you like them.

Good luck

Andy

Thanks for the tips. Called City Diesel, they said to use the thinnest washers in the kit. I forgot to ask if they were new but they look it. No scratches or wear marks on the bodies. No crush marks on either side of the washers on the injectors, but I'll ask if I have to call again. Looks like they're goin in Sunday. :)

I put a very tiny amount of antiseize on the copper washer to hold it in place while install the injector. Also put a tiny amount on the hold down nut. However, do not get any on the tip. The rubber o ring that goes around the retaining nut is a pain to get on smoothly. I built a tool to push the oring on evenly out of an old injector rententin nut.

Got them installed today. Next time I'm making a puller and getting a cleaning brush for the injector bore. Probably would have saved me from taking everything apart for a second time.

I like the results, max egt is 1200 max boost is 38psi. Really increased "low end" and now the truck really pulls in lockup instead of lazily accellerating. They put out a decent cloud of black smoke WOT but clean up quickly. They idle smooth, and dont "haze" any more at idle than the 175k stock injectors.

Now where's that GSK...

yea i had a problem getting them in the hole they did not want to seat down causing the copper washer to fall off !!! !$#!@ oh yea dont try to do this on your 1st while its dark outside. i still have a missing issue at part throttle after 2500rpms any suggestions

Need more timing than the 17*? Has it slipped maybe? How's the fuel pressure, whether it be the LP or OV?
