Got a brake question for yous.

I have noticed lately, to my chagrin, that when I am in 4WD the brakes in my truck can become extremely sensitive. If I just tap the brakes the driveline locks up. In 2WD, the brakes are fine and everything works great. A quick inspection reveals nothing unusual. Do you guys have any ideas as to what is causing this or what I should look for? I need to remedy this because sliding on snow in traffic is not cool. Thanks.

I've noticed my brakes will become more sensitive for the first couple of uses if the truck is parked in damp weather for a few days. What it is is rust on the drums causing the brakes to stick,if you are in 4WD the locked driveline will cause the front to lock also. If this is indeed your problem then treat your brakes like they've gotten wet,drive with the brakes applied for a short distance to remove the rust. Let us know what you figure out.

Check your rear axel oil seals! They have a history of leaking! My '90 & '97 both have had this same problem. Dealer fixed free . Make sure brake shoes are cleaned or better yet replaced . . Hope this helps.
