2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Got a Cab Leak

I got a leak on both sides of the cab of my '97 Ram Extended Cab and can find them (water accumulates on the outside floor near the door). The inner door mouldings and extended cab window mouldings look fine. No rips, tears, etc. But I can't seem to locate how the water is getting in? I even removed the carpet (actually had to discard it because it was so full of water), but still can't find the leak.



Any suggestions? Any history of this kind of stuff? Many thanks.

Lots of posts about cab leaks. Since yours is on both sides I suspect that the third brake light (above the rear window) is leaking. The water runs along the top of the rear window depending on which way the truck leans. The rear seat sits on a raised place in the floor so there are what amounts to rain gutters on both sides. The front carpet gets wet.



There are other possibilites, but that's the most likely. You can repair with silicon or buy a new gasket from Dodge.

I would guess Joe is correct since you are wet on both sides. My leak was only on the driver side. It took me months to finally find it. It was leaking inside the door because the plastic rain sheet in the door was not sealed to the metal near the bottom which allowed the water to get in between the inner door panel and the door metal frame. It then leaked to the carpet right along the threshold. Along the door inside at the bottom is about 5" high. The plastic sheet must be sealed to the top of the metal panel. All water must go into the door cavity where it can drain out the holes in the door bottom. If water gets on the cab side of the metal panel it drains into the cab.
