BOMB-friendly dealers?

KDP Jig

Well, I got asked again, DOES IT HAVE A CHIP IN IT??? GRRR!!! Ok, so I had to crack open another beer and explain how a 7100 is stupid and reliable, and how the 44's are only as good as the lift pump that supplies them. I think I got another BOMBing victim last night too... he has a ETH DEE 4x2... Hmm, the possibilities! I took him for a ride, and he was HOOKED!!! he will be joining the TDR in no time!

I bought my 02 when I was 22 and I'm 23 now.

This is my forth fullsize after my small jap mazda. I had the same "rich parents" line thrown at me when I had my 88 Chebby and my 99 2500 4x4 v10. The 99 I bought when I first came in the service and it made money tight, but at that time the Cummins would have cost me too much. After I wrecked my 99, I made a bad desion and bought a halfer dorf. I sold it and now I'm paying on a truck I don't get to use again for another 365 days.

I'm waiting for the call!!! :D

I'm 22, i'll be 23 this month. I am currently working 2 jobs to keep this truck, and goto school(college). When I get back to school next week, I HAVE to find a job, or give up one or the other. Don't want to hear about "Daddy's money", I don't even have a dad.

As you can tell, this is a touchy topic for me. Don't say I don't earn what I work for.

Hey, I did not know that Andrew... I am almost 23, and have never met my dad either. . I wonder about it sometimes, and there are only a few people I feel comfortable talking about it to, and one was the person who left me hanging yesterday (New Years Eve). . I dont know; it may be a big miscommunication between us, but its still a shallow thing to do. Her and I need to have another talk, thats all I have to say.

My dad used to joke and say "What do you want with a diesel?" I will always remember my dad looking over at me smiling the first time I took him for a ride in it when I got straight piped. It will be 17mos since he passed away, and I know he would be grinning ear to ear if he could see it now.

I'm getting old. I'm 23.

my reply to the chip querstion depends on the person, if they are a redneck, i tell them i dont and its like turing up a tractor.

If they aint, I tell them its so good, it doesnt even need a chip.

Well coming home from Chattanooga today I had this little rice burning POS come up on my rear view and he got so close to my rear end I could barely see his head over my tailgate!!#@$%!

"Ok some smoke 'll fix his arse!" :-laf

"&*^%*)!! he's still there!"

reached for the CB mic and had the KW beside me ease on the brakes and I let completely off the skinny pedal and BASHED THE HELL OUTTA IT ONE MORE TIME! :D Oo.

He went by giving me the one finger salute and I saluted back!

Truck driver was watching after I got his attention on the CB, well with the Fact. Plate & AFC full forward & a few clicks of the star wheel I gave this guy a pretty decent sooting! The truck driver's reply "man you must have a chip in that thing! "

I shortly explain mechanical pump and I had the plate slid. Then went alont my way!Oo.

Just tell him its a pump off a KT-450 and you have some "buttons" in it to make it run like that!!! any real driver will know what you are talking about. .

-Chris-

Hey Mark--that goes in "Great Smoke Stories"! You don't want CF to find us smokers lurking about just anywhere. :p Of course Charlan has no trouble finding a Smoke Story.

I just had to comment that that is the only time a CB radio is better than a ham rig. ;) Sometimes I wish I still had a CB in the truck. But then I'm having enough fun mounting three radios and a motorized antenna. Lemme know if want to know more about what they can do.

Buttons= Delivery Valves? Guessing, I'm not a real driver--just a guy that sounds like one.

The tow truck driver told me about a ford with a chip in it. Told him I had a 5-stage computer.

Ive used a similar line wade it gets em every time. I got my dream truck when I was 23 and now im 26. I love it more every day.

Ive been known to smoke a tailgater or two but I tell you they are pretty bright up here. They catch a hint on the first stink bomb, as I call em, about 95% of the time. Funny thing the fuel up here makes it smell like a skunk pooed himself when I mash the go pedal before I have sufficient boost. Really really stinky. I sure miss that drag chip. I had to take it out cause it was throwing codes. I have never seen so much smoke. Looked like the tractor pulls with the boys with the drug pushers or the freaked out p pumps.

No one has accused me of using daddys money yet but maybe it cause they like their butt. Maybe it depends on what side of the country your on but it sure sounds like an insult to me.

I get the chip thing every now and then and the banks thing all the time. I have nothing against banks just wasnt in my piecemeal budget. Or the big numbers I was after.

I mention that a few days ago to a banks dealer when he asked if my mods were banks. And he got offended. I told him what 1200 well spent dollars could do and his jaw dropped. I didnt leave out the need for a major go through on the turbo, transmission and exhaust plus gauges and fueling improvements. But he understood my intent.

Banks misleading material on warranties doesnt ease my mind though. But it seems industry standard so let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Lord knows its not dr P.

I had a guy the other day tell me that he wanted to purchase a "programmer" from me for his truck. . Ok, what year?? He told me a 97 CTD... . Whoa there... Then I had to explain to him that it is a mechanical pump, and that there is no computer to program. . he was convinced that it was computerized. I took him under the hood, and told him that if it had a computer, he would have a rheostat on his gas pedal for a 'fly by wire' type control... Oh well, I am selling him a plate now!

I was searching through all the threads I have posted to, and saw this one... had to revive it!

Talk about dragging out the dead! :p :-laf

Get the chip thing all the time. Only Banks a couple of times. Bullydog seems kind of big in the non diesel crowd around here.

Have tried to race some ricers and quite a few ask if I have a turbo... . I say ya, they say we can't race. I laugh!!!

Get the thumbs up from so ricers when I blow them out of the water while others tend to look straight lol.

They also like to ask how much power I am putting out.

Good thread

I swear to god I was asked if I had a box on mine, just smiled and said yeah,,,, for the AFTERCOOLER and went on about my buisness.

and Im 23

I pulled up to a guy's place to look at a rototiller this afternoon and he's was all excited about my truck (he's got a fairly new Chevy). I kinda hammered it 'cause I missed his house and came roaring back, he was outside watching.

Anyway he just thought my truck was it and says "Man you gotta chip in that thing?!?" When I explained it's a mechanical system and I put a torque plate in it I get the deer in the headlights look. I was nice and simply told him I turned up the pump then that registered.

He was all wanting to know where I got it and how old it was, when I told him I'm just shy of 374,000 miles he was all :--)

I like explaining how my larger tires have a certain percentage offset, then telling someone what mileage is on the dash, as well as what mileage is actually is on the motor..... It confuses some, and some understand it fully.

This brings back some memories. Back when I had a Kwikspool HX40 (RIP) for the few weeks around town at stoplights and what not everyone would ask me if I had a supercharger, because even at idle it was hummin, to this day I still haven't drove a turbo that was as much fun as that one was. But at the track I get all sorts of questions... ... ... . from Banks, propane, etc.

Do you like the 40 better than the B1? My 40 is good, but I notice my EGT's are out of control when towing... Kind of annoying. I cannot go without my 191's... . I would be a lost soul without my smoke!
