I don't fit this thread :D 41 this week. But i wanted to say that some of you younger guys that I know are way beyond your years in maturity. ... I would not have guessed very well ;)

IColeman, loved your response to why does it knock so loud. I'll have to remember that one next time and maybe add "but I put some oil in the fuel tank and it should quiet down soon".

Am not going to say how old I am because I'm not sure at what age you guys consider we are senile. :D

I think the cane is in the corner. ;)

My dad thinks I'm nuts for "wasting" so much money on the BOMBs. Just something that gets into your blood. :-laf

Well, since the thread has been revived and I spent all weekend installing my newest "chip", I'll check in to say I'm 38 or so.

The locals pretty much know to look out for clatter-trucks with stacks--there's a couple of us around here. I lay it out for anyone who cares to listen, but I think they get lost. When they get real stupid about their buddies truck that does 10 sec quarters and gets 24 mpg towing a mobile home--I just smile and nod and leave.

My new "chip" is a 913 pump from a 1996 donor. New chip feels about 100-horse better than old chip. It went in place of that ratty little 160 pump I started abusing 33,000 miles ago. Truck now has 174k on it and a B1 (previous new chip).

HEY--do this, pull out a stock torque plate and show it to them--tell 'em that's the old "chip". :-laf

NV4500 and dual disc is next.

heh.

Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Cruising university, Buddy Pual running Banks in his 2004. 5, I'm running Edge. I'm a bit faster ;-). None the less, 2 Diesel running with the rest of the crowd... Every time we pull into a parking lot you hear

"Them damn diesels!"...

Typicaly it's a ricer or a V8 gasser *****in about the last time they met a diesel :)

Also, my new favorite: "Is that a hemi?". I promptly reply: "No, it's a Cummins you dummy". Followed by a low boost setting of 5 on level 5 roll in 2nd gear to leave a little trail of smoke.

BTW, i'm 25 and love to **** with the kiddies and their little cars. Can't wait to get my 93 xj rolling in town. it's also an I-6... sounds like a small block idling tho ;-)

I got it yesterday... One of my cousins 15 yr old friends was checking out my stacks when I went outside to get something out of the truck... We started talking and he asked if I had a chip in it... I proceeded to educate him in the difference between a "chip" and what we use... Then he asked what I thought of fords... Told him I dont like V8 diesels and he tried to tell me thats what my engine is. . either that or a V10... He knows cause his uncle has a 3/4 ton dodge with a V10... I told him the cummins if a straight 6 and he got the deer in the headlights look... I figured it was best to go back in the house before I tried to educate him further... Some ppl always try to iceskate uphill

I'm 25, bought the truck in '99. My dad bought his first CTD new in 98. Mom would pick up friends to go shopping, they got in and she'd start it. People would spaz and say, "somethings wrong with your truck!" Now my mom has her own 98 12v to drive around, and my brother bought a 96 5 speed a few years ago. He gets the chip comment sometimes, with the straight piped dual exhaust. I've had a few people tell me I should put a chip in it. When I FINALLY get a stronger transmission I'll see if I can get a metal chip. :D

Well I've never had the "Chip" discussion yet and I'm a wee bit older than the latest posters , but I did get some interesting conversations when I used to fill up my '68 El Camino. I put a 6-33 Nissan Diesel (still have it) in it back in '78 and I would get some weird looks and comments from other people filling up around me, but my favorite ones were the attendants that would run over to try and stop me from filling up with diesel, especially the ones that were in the office:-laf :-laf
