Ok, last night I was heading home and when idling in traffic, I'm getting a noise. Sounds sorta like a blower fluctuating and whooing.

It sounds a lot like the coolant "squeal" some second gens had... that up and down whoo, whooo, whowhooo type noise...

When I try to isolate it, it is so soft you can barely hear it outside the truck. It is loudest when I listen right through the radiator... I'm thinking either belt, fan clutch, fan support bearing, or water pump... I have 112k on the belt and a new one at the house (just no time to install it). If you go above the fan and stuff, the noise all but goes away...

Thoughts??

I know the fan support bearing sounds horrible when they fail... my dad's truck had that happen. They sound like the fan it trying to escape the engine comaprtment through the radiator... but mine might just be starting to go...

I have had no issues with the fan clutch turning on or off...

I haven't looked to see if the weep hole is wet, but I have notice I have lost about a quart of fluid since the truck was new... I assumed this was normal and nothing to be alarmed about.

I'm hoping it is a worn belt causing the noise... can I be that lucky though?
