i guess it really isn't a problem yet but I don't think a quad cab is big enough and a mega cab doesn't come in a long bed so... . Should I wait to see if dodge is going to pull thier head out of their rearend or look at a different brand... . Really need a full size four door with a long bed... What to do?

Hey man how's it going?

Go look at the quad cab before you write it off. We just went from our 02 q/c to this 06. Had to have the 8' bed also, so we didn't even look at the mega cab. We did however come close to buying a GMC crew cab long bed, but they don't want a Dodge for a trade in.

We decided that the new quad cab is big enough for us right now, it is much easier to get into the back seat now.

I don't think the GM dealers should be so picky on their trade ins. A new vehicle sale is a new vehicle sale. GM needs every one they can get. A dealer here still has at least a half dozen new '05s on the lot. They would probably be too embarassed that they could sell a used Dodge before another Isuzu. I mean Chevy.

It is going welll. . Maybe I should explain a little better... My wife is pregnant with our second child and the first is pretty tall for her age... . It is near impossible to put her seat behind the driver seat or the passenger seat because of how tall me and my wife are and how tall she is so a car seat probably wont fit... We did test drive a quad cab a couple weeks ago and a very nice truck but the seat might fit now but my kids will probably be tall so getting a new truck every couple of years just isn't a good plan for us... . So I need a big backseat and a long bed...

My daughter became a leggy teen ager a few years ago. Her and her friend don't fit well in the back. To get them to fit, I have to move my seat up.

By herself, on a long trip, she stretched out sideways. . soo no problem there, but I couldn't imagine 3 near full grown kids, or two and a car seat.

She's our one and only. Just got her liscence. So now it's not a problem anymore.

So I understand your problem.

For me now, as when she was a preteen or early teen, the QC was/is now perfect.

Well that is a problem a lot of us faced. Our family was able to make do with the quad cab because I also needed a long bed. Some advice I had bought a 06 Ford crew fully loaded and lemoned it out. 2000 miles on the ticker it went tires up. So in my book that does not leave you much choice. good luck

As the kids age, the carseats get smaller. We used to own a '99 Ford F350 Crew Cab, but two trannies in 30,000 miles said "uncle". We have a Ram 3500 QC now. Prior to the Ford we had a '97 QC, so I know what you are saying.

I am 6' 3", my wife is 5' 10", our 14 year old is 5' 8", Our 6 year old is on a backless booster seat, and finally our 3 year old is in a car seat. We have been on many trips of 400+ miles in this truck without too much terror and gnashing of teeth. We'll do many more as the youngest will move to a booster before too long, too.

I'm one of those guys who needs a long bed. I wouldn't drive a SB pickup. I would be able to get all my stuff in there. I wouldn't drive a Ford, either. Been there, done that, and have the service receipts to prove it.

So, if you want to stay Dodge, it's either LB or MC. Ford is a crap shoot at best. GM makes some "pretty stuff", but around here they price them like gold, and they don't seem to stay anybetter put together than my old Dodge.

Load every one up how you best fit.
