Anyone running one of the Banks systems I would apreciate your input on your experiences with any one of the four ISB kits using the OttoMind TLC. Preferably one of the stinger kits or the PowerPack, but any info will be ok.
The stuff looks top notch and the programing is desirable,just looking for some real world use comments ie;
*Would you buy it again?
*Was there anything you didn't like about it?
*Did the exhaust note change much?
*Mileage change?
*Did you do your own install?
*If you had any problems were they solved promptly?

I realize that Banks is a respected company that has been around a long time,I just wonder why they don't seem to get much exposure here. So if anyone has one on a ISB speak up I would like to hear your thoughts.
I don't want to count them out because nobody is talking about them.

Check the archives you'll find a lot of info. on Banks. I'm using the StingerPlus on both my 12 valves, have all the power I need and would do it again in a heartbeat. People are going to say you will get more bang for your buck with other mods, but unless you're racing you don't need more bang than Banks. As far as the buck Banks prices are much the same as equal mods from other manufactures, for a higher quality, engineered as one unit power boost with a warranty& support you can't beat. My 2¢

Most anyone can do the install with basic tools, sounds better than stock, but not louder& I gained about 2mpg. People I've known who have added the StingerPlus to 24 valves have been just as happy.

Thanks illflem,
I did a search in 3 archives and didn't find any 24 valve matches.
I do plan on doing my own install with whatever brand I end up selecting. I just want a little feedback from the Banks gang to make the most informed decision possible.
As we all know there is no shortage of feedback on the latest black box power adders everyone else builds.

Thanks for your input.

I've just ordered the Banks Git-Kit. I can let you know my impressions when I get it. The thing I like is that it is a complete well designed, engineered solution. It increases boost, monitors EGTs and defuels it they exceed 1300F, defuels during TC lockup, etc. I can install the thing and forget it. I don't have to buy other addons or watch the EGTs constantly. And whether it is true or not, they say their product does not void the engine warranty.

Mike,
This thread is the perfect place for me to post this:
I am frequently found at the local pump shop #ad
well, a few weeks ago they had a rash of 98. 5 and 99 trucks in the shop. The first one had a dead pump. As soon as DC heard what code it produced, they new instantly knew that the guy had a scotch-lock fuel enhancement and they did not warranty his pump. The guy from Bosch said that the 011 and 012 pumps are failing because of the pressure put on them by over-fueling. While this was taking place, a guy with the new kit Stinger something (exhaust, otto-mind, intake, etc. ) came in to this shop so they could install the kit. His truck is a 99. When it came time to install the box, we looked and sure enough 012 pump. After we told him that it may take a dump from the box, he called Banks. After 35 minutes and them initially saying they were unaware of the pump failures, they finally admitted they knew about the problem. He told them he had a 99, they chose to not inform him about the problem. They said to simply return the whole system, when he said that he wanted everything but the box, they said the only way they would do that is for a 30% restock fee!!! I talked to a reliable source and asked what would help and bigger injectors seem to be the key, along with a mild (VA,EZ) fuel enhancement this seems to be better. Thought you would want to hear this since you have a 99.

If you guys don't mind include your sig so I know what you're using, thanks.

bdaniel,
Let me know how it works out.

Stack'd-n-Jack'd,
Thanks for the heads up,I will investigate. Everyone else has had their share of bugs to work out on various products but as yet none offer the features of the otto-mind and I like what it offers.

I really want to hear from the guys that are actually running the Banks system on a ISB ETC.

It will be a week or two before I get the Git-Kit. As for the signature, I forgot that I have to check the box on the posting form.

I also ordered guages. I plan to install the guages first and tow my TT before I install the Git-Kit so I have before and after numbers on boost and EGT.

this is a load of BS , do a search and i know you will find a few posts relating powertrain problems and warranty denials with banks kit installed , one guy even called banks on it and they pretty much told him to pound sand .

ANY HP mod you make will void your warranty , dodge makes no bones about . if you are worried about your warranty , wait till you are past 100k miles OR repeat after me ... "I AM MY OWN WARRANTY STATION"

Hey Mike I have the Banks stinger plus on my truck. The TLC ottomind works very good easy to hook up all the wires plug in the back of ottomind and the wiring harnes Banks supplys is like OEM stuff. The throttle sensor and boost sensor just plug in the Banks harnes. Even the gages all just plug in. The one wire that goes to the fuel pump wire ueses a scocth lock to connect it. Thats not to good of a set up but the rest is awsome. I also put in 275 hp. injectors in form TST. I could read the manual to install the kit so I did'nt need to call Banks to hold my hand. The set up I have works great no problems. I don't go to the drag strip all the time like mopar muscle so I don't have no dyno #'s or times to back up what I am saying. Alot of people here like the backyard boxes so not much is said about Banks. But when you get done with a box, exhust, gages, turbo, air filter you come up close to the price of a Banks kit and it is all enginnered by one company. I also understand I am my own warrenty station now.
