Don't worry yourself sick. The main issue I found is just lack of room for my hands. It is easy to do, and I am learning as I go. I drove my truck with the stock plate for a year(about as long as I have had it) then I bought a used #6 plate. My two issues after the install were no big hp increase, and it was very hard to press the throttle. I called Piers and they said the #6 was the worst plate to shove forward all the way, and that I need to adjust the gov. lever. I left my plate full forward and looked inside with the AFC off. Sure nuff the lever was hitting underneath the plate and could not ride up on the profile. This is how to fix the problem. Take the AFC housing off. Take the screws and cover off the back of the pump(their is a rubber gasket/o-ring on the cover). You want to adjust the bottom screw. Use a 10mm socket to back off the jam nut. Take a stubby flat tip screwdriver and turn it counter clockwise I think, otherwise if the lever doesn't move up the plate profile turn it the other way. Turn the screw a turn or two then check lever position on the plate. This is how to check the position. Either turn the key on and lift the shutoff lever up or hold it like I did(must be held all the way up), and rotate the throttle while watching down in the pump to see where the lever comes up at. The adjustment you want is when the tip of the lever just starts to touch the profile of the plate. Look at the pics on Piers site, good pics, very helpfull. The plate they show out of the pump is a #6, same as mine, and I adjusted my lever to begin to touch the profile just above the nose/bump on the bottom. BTW I didn't take the filter off. Sorry this is long winded, but I like details. Not hard to do, just take your time, making a couple turns, then check the lever/plate contact. EXPERTS let me know if I left something out, ect.

Good luck, Jordan
