We have looked at zero turns for several years, finally took the plunge today....wife mows a lot so she has to be on board..

Settled on a Husqvarna M-ZT 52.

Hammered it all afternoon and I am impressed so far. Got it stuck (mowing where I should not have been), had to tow it out with the Mega....Whoo Hoo!!! Sandy said she should have gotten a few pictures when it was mired.....

Driveway's a little rundown, too. Outta fix it before it kicks a chunk up into the truck's rocker panel. But that can't be what we were supposed to look at....

I know Neal, not the best shot. I had taken it on my phone and it was the only one that I had.

Can't take another one until I wash it, rinsed it last night but still muddy.

I will say if you have a lot of lawn the zero turn will mow it in a hurry. The visibility from the operators seat is incredible.

IS it a diesel? So ZERO turn, than means it only mows in straight lines? Good luck with that!

OK, now w/o looking it up name 3 or more not mowing or chain saw products made by Husqvarna.

We bought this Scag in 09. I mow about 3.5 acres of Bermuda lawn twice a week at my motel. Zero turn mowers are the cat's meow, regardless of brand. Congrats and enjoy that sucker!

No, 26 horse V-Twin Briggs. For $500.00 more dollars you can get a Kawasaki motor.

Had to come in the house, trying to answer on the Droid was frustrating me....

I know of one Husqvarna product not in the above category....

Sewing Machines!!! We bought one two years ago, wife was still sewing with the same old machine that we bought from my mother after they sold their motel 30 years ago...couldn't get parts or find someone that knew how to set it up anymore....

The new Husky will almost sew all by itself, I was trying one out into the Joanne's fabric store while the wife was making her decision, I did some outstanding zig-zag work on that puppy. also embroidered the word "Cummins" on a piece of fabric, wife told me to quit screwing around......

Until I bought the sewing machine I couldn't even spell "Husqvarna".......:-laf:D

Congrats on the mower.

But what happened to the 300RK Cougar?

Got sidetracked........We both agreed on the mower so while the stars and planets were aligned I made it happen. We may venture down to Portland next weekend instead and kick the tires on that Montana....

Right now I gotta' buy a little trailer as I am NOT going to try and walk that 800lb. thing onto either of my four foot off of the ground pick ups.......I think the neighbor has a 5' by 8' that he wants to get rid of for a couple Benjamin's so will go after that this afternoon...

For anyone considering one of these there are many different options and levels of quality.......

For example Husqvarna offers four different levels, categorys, etc....

The M-ZT is a heavy homeowner / light commercial duty unit. Has good hydraulics but not the big Parker stuff. If you jump into the full blown commercial zero turns you are looking at 8-10 grand just getting started. The Scag pictured above is one of the best commercial mowers built and offered.

The M-ZT has a fabricated mowing deck, frame is made of rectangular steel tubing (and it is rigid, no flexing on rough ground even with my 250lb. a** in the seat), cast iron blade housings, huge greasable spindle bearings for the caster wheels and a bunch of other stuff.

They sell for $5599.00 with the Briggs and just over $6000.00 if powered with the Kawasaki. I got it for less because it came in late last fall and he wanted it gone. He is a local dealer and even if I paid a little more that I would have going to Bangor I prefer to support my local guys. If my wife is trying to mow and something happens while I am at work then I simply call him. He will come get it and deal with the issue. Same reason I buy my Mopar's in town.

Pretty happy and as an added bonus..the wife is happy too....it just doesn't get any better than that!!!:D

I think going faster will help........:DOo.

Faster is right. I didn't realize how fast the zero turns were until I took mine in for service and had to borrow a traditional rider mower. That was awful. Couldn't wiat to get my Scag back.

I don't know how they rate V-twin Briggs engines. My John Deere Z655 probably has the same engine (44.2 CID), but it's rated at 27-hp. It also has the dual Parker pumps and motors with a 54" hi-capacity mower. It is indeed fast! I can mow about 3 acres Bermuda grass with lots of trees and shrubs in just over two hours. It took close to five hours on my JD 345 lawn tractor with the same size mower deck. They both use about the same amount of gasoline to mow the same area. I've had my JD Z-track for two years this month with nearly 200 hours on the clock and so far it's been trouble free.

OK, I'll finish the Husqvarna product line question I posed.

The other two that I've run into are firearms and motorcycles. I even owned a mid 70's Husky 250 dirt bike.

It's been a long time since I was in the OPE business, but, at that time, the water-cooled Kawasaki V-Twins were the absolute cream of the crop. At that time, Briggs bought their way into the OHV market with the Vanguard series, which were called "Nagano" engines. I believe there was a Generac connection.

Wow, I had no idea.....The motorcycles make sense but the firearms surprised me.

Nice bit of trivia there Gary!!!
