I got a 2006 diesel 48RE quadcab 2500 4x4 its all stock except for a 4 inch muffler. it has 2135 miles on it. My engine has a stuttering in it at low rpm about 1300 to 1750rpm only at light throttle. I can take it out of overdrive and still feel it. When i let up a little it goes away and when i give it a little it goes away. Its at about 10% throttle holding steady speed with the converter locked up its real noticeable. This is annoying, anybody got any ideas?

Sounds like what's going on with mine, I haven't quite pin pointed it, and it's driving me nuts, but I'm at a loss as well, and it's pretty hard to 'splain it to the dealer. Mine happens at about 45-50mph, with convertor locked. It kinda feels like something's out of balance, but just like you, it's only happening st slight throttle, like just off idle. Freeway cruise, more than just off idle, it's not there, and the smoother the road, the more you feel it. Take foot off gas or push it down more, all smooth. Since I have 4. 10's, my shake comes about 50ish. And the worse part, my good dealer, there ain't a road smooth or long enough to get up to 50 (without attracting attention), the dealer near me has long, smooth roads, but I'm not too sure about there service dept. I'll be watching this closely. One thing, when in tow/haul, and coming to a stop, I feel a shudder from the floor board area, then it unlocks the convertor and down shifts, wonder if this has something to do with it. Try that, run in tow/haul and see what happens.

took my truck to the dealer yesterday and spoke with the teck that was going to work on it. he said that he hadn't herd of this but the other teck that was there had. We will see?

My 05 Quad cab short bed had a vibration in the floor under moderate acceleration, replaced the drive shaft and it went away. I had no Idea that the driveshaft would have caused it. I thought it was in my front end. When I held my hand on the 4x4 shifter, I could feel a constant vibration all the way from 53 mph to 70 mph. Drive shaft took care of it. Im very happy about that. Not even sure if this is remotely close to what you have going on but I thought I would share my experience

It doesn't feel like a driveshaft, it only happens at a certain speed and when it's warmed up, and with the tq convertor doing the weird noise like I mentioned in tow/haul when downshifting, makes me think it's in the trans/tq convertor. I don't want to go through the "could not duplicate" run-around, because I will lose my cool :-{} . If I bring it in, there's a problem.

Went and got the truck last night the dealer flashed it with a 18-000-06 the dealer said it had something to do with the shifting of the transmission i realy dont think it is a transmission problem i should know cause i work on them everyday that is my buisiness. I wasint able to put enuf time in the saddle but im going to take a cruse later on today after work. I shure wish i could find some info on that and other reflshes. This problem is noticable even in tow haul mode in third gear lockedup at maintaining 40mph engine not running smoooooth. Il let you know how the roadtest went.

I had mine flashed for that same thing, the "improved trans shift/mpg read out" thing, but I don't remember if the truck did it before the flash, but I do know she does it now. I really can't determine if it's a trans or motor issue. I'm totally confused.

The latest thing I discovered, I was reving the truck up today in park, didn't go over 2000rpm, noticed a definate stutter at about 1300-1500 rpm. Now I'm real confused as to where it's coming from, but since it seems to happen in a specific rpm range, makes me think it's motor. Almost feels like a V8 gas when a plug goes bad.

Well i still have a problem the flash did not fix it. Im going to drive another truck real soon. I need to get to the botom of this soon i just wonder if this is the nature of the beast. Its the engine not the trans ill post back when i get more results i love my cummins!!!!!!!!!

Going down glass smooth roads around here, 1600rpm, take foot off gas, glass smooth, put the pedal down a bit, shake away.

Engine Studdering on 06

I have an 06' 6spd 4 X 4 and I get the engine shudder in 2nd gear when starting to pull with the 5er hooked up. The shudder is very noticable at the low rpm range and goes away when I get up in the 10 to 15 mph (approx 1750 rpm range). Does not occur in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th gear. Don't use 1st gear very often, but when I do I seem to remember a shudder in that gear under the same conditions. Have experienced this since new last December. The harder I get on the throttle, the worse the shudder. I have no idea what is causing it, but I am relatively sure that it is not an out of balance driveline or a clutch problem - pretty sure it is coming from the engine in that lower rpm range.

Sounds to me you could have a little driveline wrap. When you take off in second with the 5er on theres a lot more tourqe on the driveline than normal and it could shutter a little bit till it gets some speed on the shaft.

Kinda sounds like an 18 wheeler when you take off loaded in the wrong gear, kinda shakes and bogs a bit until you get the rpm's up, well, this is a REAL truck motor we're talking about here..... and I love it, just wish to get this thing running on top again.

Ok, I'm giving up, and taking my chances in going to the dealer tomorrow. I 'splained to the writer, but I have a strong hunch she don't know what I'm talkin' about, and they said their diesel tech is "pretty good", but I don't want anything to happen me when I go on vacation next month.

I have the same problem on my 2004 QC 48RE, as described when I have the O/D off, and take off from a stop or am just begining to accelerate up a hill, I get a slipping feeling I swear is in the transmission. I had the service guy check it out, he had it all day and checked codes and "drive tested" it but turned up nothing. I can reproduce it 99% of the time, as stated in earlier post, if you accelerate or slow down to near crawl it will stop, but at 1100 - 1500 rpm and o/d off I can make it happen everytime. I am thinking of taking the service guy for a ride... if I can talk him into it. I am wondering if they are putting me off until the warranty is up?!? =\ They will be waiting a while. . only have 22K on it thus far. I am thinking of taking it to Amco for a second opinion.....
