TST transmission Gauge install

Ok got my order from TST and will be doing the install as soon as I get a new gasket from Cummins (the KDP tab fix). I have read a bit on the transmission temp install. TST says to install the probe/sender in the front servo port on the passenger side of the transmission. My transmission is 47RE. Here is my question. I plan on installing a Mag-Hytech transmission pan within the next 6 months. Should I install the probe/sender in the servo port and then move it into the pan later or get the cooler line w/a port installed and do the install there? What would give my the best most accurate readings? I plan on carrying a camper and pulling a ATV trailer over two lane mountainous roads in Alaska. Eventually (3-5yrs) installing a new Torque converter and transmission from ATS.

Thanks

Can't use the port on the 47RE, only the 47RH, unless the tip of the sender is almost flat. Won't fit in there otherwise. The cooler line is the best place. You will see the hottest it will get there. Pan isn't a very good place.

What is a good place to get the line w/ port? Just got my trany guage and have been looking at places to instale. Where is this port on the trany that is talked about i was told to put it there by the people i got the gauge from. Thanks Doug

Ok that sounds good. Now the question is where to buy the line and how do I install that? Also where do I install the line? Any ideas of place of purchase and installs?

Thanks

You can buy it at the dealer, but I believe there is someone on here selling them cheaper. Don't have the part number on hand sorry. Maybe they will chime in. It will be the line running from the transmission to the heat exchanger, real easy to change. Just remember the line comes with the check ball in it so you must remove the one at the bottom of the heat exchanger.

Do a search on transmission line with port and you should come up with some good info.

Did a search through Google and found Desert Diesel. They are asking $95 plus shipping. I guess I'll be calling then Monday morning and ordering the part. So it looks like I'll be waiting another week before I can install the gauges and kill the Dowel Pin.

Thanks for the info and the help. This site sure has paid me back many times over for the price of membership.

I just got off the phone with MassDiesel and ordered my line. I guess I will eventually run 2 transmission temp gauges one in the line and one in the pan. Still I would like to know where is the best place for measuring this.

Thanks
