Well it's been almost 10 months and i'm just about as far as i want to go on this truck for now. She goes in tomorrow for gears (going to 4. 11), a bed liner, and toolbox, and then it's done... for a long while. Here's a before (the day i drove her home) and after of the progress.

And here's the after, no body work, just paint.

Thank you everybody! I'm going to be going back to school for a couple years then starting a new career. Once that's all done, under control, and things settle down i'm going to start going back through the body and work out all the dents and clean her up and re-shoot. Paint and body is one thing I want to get good at so it'll be good practice.

Nice! Now you just have to take care of that leak... I noticed the cookie sheet under the motor/trans

This thing leaks from the fan to rear hitch but i've got the best lubed driveway on the block:-laf When It's time to do the clutch i'll address the rear main which is the main culprit and pretty much everything else i can replace. Till then it's just check and add.

BOY HOWDY! Thats one spiffy lookin' truck! The Color is outstanding!

Thank you very much Greg, it's dark spectrum blue metallic... well that's what it's supposed to be. That was one thing I probably stressed with them 100 times was how it had to match. I love that color on these trucks and I haven't seen one running around out here yet. It was overcast all day today so i'm really looking forward to a sunny day, i can already tell she'll sparkle. I'm really happy with it. So is the wife which always makes things a lot easier:-laf

Truck looks GREAT!!!!! Now get a few cans of Rustoleum black satin spray paint and freshen up the underside :)

How are those Alcans riding?

Yep. Really nice. Thumbs up!!

On the oil leak, I'm presuming you've replaced the valve cover gaskets? #6 will leak back down the head and look like a rear main..... and the way it's parked there in the drive, I'd bet they all could contribute... . just a tip... . suggestion. I hate an oil leak.

Hey there! Thanks yeah i'm going to do some finish work with the rattle can this weekend:-laf The springs are better but I think I need to move the mounts back an inch or two. The top shackle bolt rubs on the back rivet and though not a big deal, it is effecting ride and isn't right. Ideally i'd have some custom ones made but it's hard to find guys out here that do that stuff anymore.

It's going in this afternoon for new gears so i'm going to talk to the guy there and see what he thinks. They do lots of Jeep and 4x4 truck stuff, just not sure what if any fab work they do. We were in Johnson City over the weekend checking out the ETSU campus and were really happy with the school and the area. East Tennessee is exactly like where i grew up out here in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. I think me and the truck will be a lot happier running around out there with the 4. 11's.

Thank you! Yeah i put gaskets on it probably 2 months (100 miles) ago, definitely needed them. I've heard bad things about the blue gaskets but that all i could get my hands on. I cleaned and prepped everything really nice and no leak. I need to get under there and really clean it up so i can keep an eye on it. Life's just been really hectic these last couple months. Should slow down after the Christmas/New Years holiday.

So I got the tach installed (Isspro put in by Left Coast Diesel), new 4. 10 gears (Sierra Gears put in by Central 4-Wheel Drive), new u-joints front and rear, re-balanced driveshafts, and woooooowwwwww what a difference. A lot of the vibrations are gone and it seems a lot smoother. It used to sound like a Huey was hovering overhead once i'd hit 60-70mph. The gears helped a lot and i'm going into the pump this weekend for a new pin and some mods and that should about finish it up for now. Really starting to have a lot of fun with this truck and the work is starting to pay off. I get a lot of looks and thumbs up, i'm a proud papa:D
