Poor guy, it was a nice looking 2000-2001. And granted, it was not a fair fight as it was a 4x4 crewcab dually FlowerChoke, vs my 2wd standard cab 3/4 ton, but he started it.
Got on my tail pretty agressive while I was getting off the interstate, the offramp turns into a moderate uphill, and into two lanes. And winds gusting past 40mph into our face to boot - only trailers would have made it a sweeter situation for our torque monsters! So I leave her in 4th, use the left lane, drop down to 30mph, and when he chose the right lane, I blipped the throttle and gave his grill a smoke job to egg him on. If he had a vent or heater on, he got a noseful! Immediately grabbed 3rd, and waited. When his front bumper creeps to my passenger side door, he nails it (as it turns out, he has to go left about 1/3 mile up, so he wants in front of me).
By the time I react and nail it, we are even, and I need 4th bad. So I grab for it, we stayed even during the shift, and then I put 2 truck lengths on him before hitting 58. Really walked away from him hard. Beautiful haze of light black/grey coming out. Grab 5th and continue walking on him until he hits his brakes (front bumper dive), and now he has plenty of room to take his left turn behind me! 3 truck lengths easy.
I'll bet he is telling a different story to his buddies... .
Thanks to the folks and advice in here, this was a team effort and that guy didn't even know it!
