Well over the weekend I droped down some $$$ and finally got myself a nice 1998. 5 24v to take to Alaska. Its a really clean truck, quad cab, AT, 3. 54 gears, 89k miles, 1 woman owner with a utility bed?... Still haven't figured out what it was used for because the truck is very clean, best I can figure some sort of electrical something, cable, phone or ?? but the truck was privately owned...

I got a pretty good deal on the truck because it has a utility bed on the back and nobody seemed to want that around there, I'm still debating on wether or not to try and swap back to a standard 8' bed

Anybody know the weight difference between a utillity bed and a normal box?

Anybody know what a Reading utility bed, w/sprayed liner would go for?

1st thing on my list is some gauges...

Here's a pict of my truck:

Nice truck. I like the utility bed, good place to carry all the spare parts and tools for your trail rig..... welcome to the board, good to see another wheeler come over from the other forums :D

Nice find! Welcome to the TDR. Not interested myself but I'll bet someone out there might be willing to swap beds with you. I'm not sure how much they cost but you could call Reading (don't have number search for their site) and ask for a price to find out what it might be worth.

Good Luck and Bomb On!

Hello and Welcome on board

Congrats on the find. Nice looking rig. That util bed will have great cubby holes for your trip to Alaska. I wish I could Convoy with you. The wife and I will make that drive one of these days. The airplane ride up there was fun but... ... .

Welcome aboard & congrats.......

Mine empty weighed around 9K lbs. That's starting with a 3500 to begin with.

They do make slide in campers for the utility beds. Just as an option. Is it just side drawers or does the tops flip up too?

If it's in good shape you should be able to sell it. I know for the 3500 they were around $6K new. Figure a little less for a 2500 and then it being used you should still be able to get $1K ~ $2k depending on the market.

Garrett, just curious how you posted that pic of the truck in less than 32k? i can't post anything i take a pic of with my sony mavica.

btw, what is you business?

thanks. scott.

Dan.......

How did it go with the dealer? Get a new pump??

Latest addition to the Beast was air horns. Worth at least 10 HP you know :D :D

Scott, I'm an electrical contractor. It's hard to make that part out in the picture. I host my pictures on my web space. Get 10M free with each E-mail account with Cox. Then you just provide a link to your pictures. That's the best I can explain it.
