Taking off next week to visit my folks up in Oregon for Thanksgiving. Got me the Hadley "Bully" set, dad says he'll help me do the install out in his barn. Next time I'm driving through the LA traffic it'll be all :D .

You guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Stay safe and play nice.

Casey- The Bully's are nice. I am hoping to get mine on the new dually soon, I pulled them off my 96 before I listed it for sale. They do wonders for LA traffic:rolleyes: :D  trust me! Did you get the tank and compressor to go along with it? Or are you goin another route. I have a 4 gal tank and bloxjax compressor. It is hug and I am still trying to figure out where to put it on the new truck.

Piece of mind......a little

Just got my Grovers installed.

I can't believe how loud these are..... I will be very discriminate about use. These can cause heart seizure, messy undergarments, AND, for the poor luck of the draw... . ROAD RAGE.

They've already paid for themselves..... fool merging and just kept coming for me. I gave him the works, and he corrected so fast I thought he might keep going the other way.

I like knowing that if I have to use these, I WILL be heard.

Ron...

Sound description is subjective/difficult, but I would say they are not a "high pitch scream". Some have said that the Hadley's have a higher, more shrill note... I can't say. They absolutely have a " I mean business" sound.

I got them from www.ricksontruck.com

They gave me a sound "demo" over the phone, comparing a single Grover and the dual Grover's that I chose. I don't remember the PN for the single, but it was a longer horn with a larger bell. The sound of the single was deeper, kinda like a fog horn, but had a distinct single note. The duals are a little higher pitch, but you can tell there are two horns, and I liked that sound better. The single did not sound any louder than the duals..... just a different note. I also tested the horns on a septic tank truck that came to my place a week or so before I called Rickson. These horns were cab mounted and I'm sure they were Grovers..... same size, and my recall is that the sound was the same.

Hope this helps... .

Ask for Dan Richter, the owner.

PN 1609, painted black

15 and 13" duals. Mounted them behind the radiator on the frame, tilted down slightly to keep water out. I have a front air dam, and the horns are not visible.

Thanx 24v-dsl... I was looking at those awhile back cause I like them being black but when everyone was talking the 20+ size I started to think I had to go that big to get the "big rig" sound. In your opinion, do yours sound close to "Big Rig"? I am looking to get close to that kind of sound but I rather get the smaller size if possible.

Johnny5...

Why don't you call Rickson and ask them to demo over the phone? It took less than 5 minutes, and suprisingly was enough to really hear what they sound like. The loudness isn't accurately duplicated... . don't know how far he had the phone from the horns, but you can certaintly tell/know they are loud. I seriously doubt you'd judge they weren't loud enough for you, in person.

I'd be happy to demo my horns for you. Send me a PM and I'll make every effort to do it.

Thanx again 24v... I'll try the Rickson's route cause I'll be buying from them anyway and maybe I can also compare to another.

The truck has horns.....

Alright, got back from Oregon last night. The install went pretty smoothly after figuring out where to place everything. The tank is up under the passenger fender infront of the wheel-well on the bracket from the frame to the bumper, removed the bracket and drilled a couple of holes to hold it. We made and welded a platform to hold the compressor on the crossmember under the radiator. The horns are mounted on the crossmember unde the radiator as well just under the license plate at angle. The kit, which I got off of eBay had everything except the solenoid. Fortunately the Grants Pass has a big rig shop. I couldn't believe the price, but I needed it. I mounted the solenoid on the same bracket holding the air tank. Took it for a test drive and found a couple of air leaks. Tightened everything up and did the soap test, no leaks.

Now for my first victim, I mean test. The wife was coming out to the truck to tell me something, so I let her have it. She was all  and my daughter, who was in the truck with me, and I were :D  .

Boy am I glad I mounted that compressor underneath the truck, cuz its loud. Only had to use them once on the way home, sure does get their attention. I can post some pictures if anyone wants, of the install. Total run of air line is less than 4 feet.
