I don't have traffic court until tuesday morning at 0800. I may end up putting a flat top 6" stack on my truck so the smoke goes straight up. California vehicle code states that exhaust must not exit the side of the vehicle between 2' and 11' from the ground. I just don't want to get hassled again.

How about someone with STOCK exhaust go measure their tail pipe on a 4x4 truck. That's got to be dang close to over the 2' rule. Sounds like another whiny politican pulled a fast one one the Commyfornia people.

I am wondering what they would have done if it smoked like some of the locomotives at work. After sitting all day at idle those things can black out entire intersections and even buildings when you come out on them. I have seen it so bad that cars have to pull over and stop and to think that Gov. is coming down on little trucks like mine, pulease give me a break

I think you hit the nail on the head right there. I think they use 2' and 11' as a rule so that your exhaust is not pointed right into someones unsuspecting window. Plus you know how deadly diesel fumes are, shoot, one good huff and you won't be right for the rest of your life. :-laf :-laf :-laf

I can not see how that is even remotely correct. If it was there would be a HUGE amount of commercial motor vehicles getting cited each day in the problem scales(Barstow,Needles and Cajon Pass) as their stacks are turned out and some fit in that height range, especially rock, sand, oil, gas tankers and a few other who need lower stacks to fit through loading racks..... For reference it is section 27152. , under chapter 5 article 2.

I think I am immune right now from getting any more "gross pollutter" tickets for now, at laest, which is a pretty good thing. I spoke with Max when he was out here for a little while, class or something.
