WELL,some good news today - one reason for indecision on which generator to buy, was the occasional need for the AC - finally warmed up enough here today for the AC compressor to kick in, and the Honda runs it just fine!

I start the fan first, on low speed, and when it gets up to speed, then set the thermostat low enough for the compressor to fire up - the power surge gets the Honda's attention, but it handles the drain well after that, and no indication of excessive current draw, according to the LEDs on the power panel.

That's a big plus - I know there's precious little else we can run along with the AC, but that in itself is a big plus!

Our AC is an Emerson 13. 5, original setup on our '88 Kit 5er...

No need to drive all that way to figure out what the A in Gary stands for :D. Oh you ment the generator ??? Just giving you a bad time Gary.

Hey, Blair, why don't you and Gary meet halfway and put your generators side by side. THEN maybe we can figure out what the "A" signifies!

... My mother told me it stands for "Awesome"

But my wife sez it stands for the same thing YOU think it does... :-laf

yo BP. . what did you need another gen set for. . thought your rig has one ??? or did you need a portable for all your other uses racing and the like. . ??

Yep the rig has a Honda 6010 in it but I needed something to charge battries for winter time camping. Having more square fotage than my house it takes alot to heat it in the winter.

I bought a Honda EU2000i in February of 2002 and it has a sticker on it showing it is an EU2000ia, so whatever the designation means, they've been selling them with it or several years. Great little generator. I just sold it to a camping buddy after I bought an Onan for a permanent install.

My son is going to order two EU2000i and an adapter to couple them togerter for 4000 W to run the AC on his 5th Wheel. They do weigh 48 lbs by the way. When not running the AC he can run only one generator. He plans to keep them chained down in his truck and use a remote starter when inside the RV.

Son's truck: 04 Dodge/Cummins, SLT, 4WD 3500 SRW, QC, long box, 6 speed HD (DEE) with Luverne PushBar/GrillGuard and Nurf bars

"How do you use a remote starter with a Honda EU2000? It only has a pull starter. "

JEEZE, that's REAL easy:

You simply holler out the window, "Honey, start the generator - it's time for the Playboy channel!" :-laf :-laf

Reminds me of a punch line for an old joke about TV remotes, "it'll be a sad day when I'm too lazy to tell me wife or daughter to change the channel. "

My son want to outfit it with an electric start and garden tractor battery and then a remote start is possible. He gets this idea from my Troy-Bilt RotoTiller, that does have a pull start and an electric start. It does not have a remote, but that's not a problem. He's thinking that it may be more expensive then it worth. Maybe an electric starter from an old roto till or garden tractor. The reason being is that if he or his wife want to get up early one morning and start a pot of coffee or run the microwave without going out to start the generator. He really likes the idea that in my cab-over camper one can start the generator from inside. Anyone with other ideas? Grizzly

UMMmmm - I have this vision of a real LONG starter rope running from the generator outside, up to the kitchen counter - just give that sucker a yank when ya need the 110 vac... :D

Other than that, trying to modify a typical Honda rope start to a remote electric start seems sorta over the top...

I like that one, "Wake the kids up and send them out". Only problem is there only kid is three months old. Maybe the rope trick through the window huh.

According to wisesales.com, the Eu2000iA contains both a 30 Amp and a 15 Amp outlet and can be used for pairing two generators together.

Love mine

Yes, you can pair them together and the pairing adaptor can come in different receptacle types. I bought two of the 2K's with extended running tank and parallel kit for 30A RV type plug. It worked great and hardly labored with the AC running. I bought them for the mobility of the divided weight between the two that makes a 4K and can fit them in my tool bins in my C&C. I was very impressed and the decibels were less than expected. I would recommended them for the smaller RV's, were you don't have the room for built-in types.
