Picked up my new '08 dually Laramie last night. So far the overhead is reading 14 mpg. Decided to give an auto a try this time and so far it seems really great, has good shifting points. In a couple of months we can give it a real work out with the 5er as we head off to May Madness.

Larry :)

Hey Rowdy,

How often is your service engine light coming on? Can you tell a difference with the 2500 bypass filter?

Don't jinks me... . My service engine light(change engine oil). I have 20,000 miles on my truck and it has only come on twice. I changed the oil the first time at about 2500 miles IIRC. When I hit 20,885 miles I will have 5000 miles with the bypass on. Then I am going to send samples to Blackstone. Then change all engine oil and filters as per filtration solutions instructions. The oil doesn't look quite as dark as before but it is still black. I saved a white towel from before the filter and compared it to after. Like I said in another post it might just be wishful thinking. I will let you know what the sample says. I was going to wait and put on my afe stage II untill after this but I couldn't wait.

The indicator has not came on with the fs-2500 on.

I am trying to make a real good case to justify the bypass filters to all the guys with the 6. 7L. I have the new AMSOIL bypass ordered and I still think that is the way to go.

Larry,

Congrats on the new truck. Let us know how you like the auto. I'm going with the auto when its time for a new one. Good luck with the new truck.

Larry, I took a 4X4 home and tried it under my fiver and it was too high. It left almost no room between the bedrails and the underside of the fiver. I also have a Reese 20K hitch. Since I really don't need a 4X4, we have ordered the 4X2. Only difference is we can not order the bench seats (Laramie... leather) in the 4X2. Have to take bucket seats. Ain't that ridiculous!!!!!!! Did you have to extend your coupler on your fiver to set it up a little higher? Book shows the 4X4 is only a little over 3 inches higher than a 4X2 but the ones on my dealers lot are about 5 inches higher than the 4X2. I hope we will also be well satisfied with our new one. This will be my fourth Dodge CTD.

..... i found plenty of clearance between bed rails and camper, even when i switched to a 3500 4x4 SRW... ... i have somewhere between 5-7 inches... i have towed once since getting the new truck, and found no problems at all!!!

(with clearance)... ... good luck... ... ..... tom

When did Dodge start that. . . I thought you could always get the straight 40/20/40 front seats with the Laramie package

I think you'll like the 4x2, I've had three of them all together. With limited slip they got around pretty well.

Vaughn, the bucket seats in the Laramie H pkg has been required since around May 2007. We have been waiting thinking Dodge has surely made a mistake. What I can not understand is you can get the 40/20/40 Leather on a 4X4 but not on a 4X2. Have already owned 2 4X2 3500 Duallys and own now a 2500 4X4. I have a new knee and a bad other knee and bad hips so getting up and down, especially down, on the 4X4 wears me out even with steps (chrome nerf bars). Anyway, yesterday ordered 4X2 with bucket seats. Will learn to love them if the 6. 7 and the 6 speed auto is as good as everyone seems to believe.

Nice work Larry, looks like I am going to need a new truck to keep up with this crowd !!!! Do I have to get an auto as well? If they had a long bed dually I would already have one. Wake up again Dodge !!!!

It's really easy to pull a few spacers out from the bottom of the spring pack to lower the truck 1 to 1-1/2 inches or so. It will level the truck a bit.

You may want to add some air bags to keep it level with a load on it, however.

I think it appears to sit higher than the '01, but will find out for sure after the hitch is installed. I don't even have the trailer at the house to compare it. Need to install hitch, brake controller , etc.

It is a long bed dually, now if you are talking Mega Cab, then you need to special order one of those like we saw at May Madness from the dealer in Texas that stretches the short bed Megas cab to a long bed. Looks like Robert Patton has one, so no more excuses, I will be looking to see yours in May. I just don't see you getting rid of yours though, and no need to buy auto. This my 1st one ever and Denise says I will be sorry I bought the auto, so we will see how it works out.

Larry

10-4 here you loud and clear Larry, I can't seem to wear my old one out so as Joe D says I am not worthy of a new one.
