Automatic - six speed or spliter?

Been waiting since I heard it was coming out, got it today, Yamaha 2400IS. The official day it was available was June15th. Got it from Mayberry's for $1200 delivered. Filled it with oil and gas and tried it out, works great, super quiet, starts and runs my 13. 5K BTU AC with no problem. It weighs around 70 lbs, this is the link with all the specs on Yamaha's site, http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/products/modelhome/475/0/home.aspx

Very nice looking unit, and great specs - I looked long and hard at that before getting my Honda 2000i, but the $$$ and weight were a bit too high. My Honda ran our A/C the first time I tried it, but then I changed the oil to Amsoil, now it won't...

NAH, no connection - it was so close to it's ragged edge power-wise, it would probably have been a mistake to try to operate it with the A/C for any serious period of time anyway - sure wish I had the Yamaha power in the Honda price and weight...

Bertram65,

Wonder if it would run my 15k btu ac? I'm guessing not, esp in the texas heat of 95 degrees in full sun or so. .

Probably going to have to go with 2 honda eu2000's...

Not sure, can you run your AC on a regular extension cord with an adapter? If so I would think it may work as most 120 circuits are 20 amp max, the generator can supply a full 20 amps for short bursts.

That looks like a great model. The Honda EU2000 is just a bit toooo small and the EU3000 is tooo big. At 2400 watts, this one is just right.

I'm looking at that Yamaha EF3000iSEB too. I just wonder how I'm going to move it around as it weighs close to 150lbs.

I use a chain hoist to load and unload. Or, have the wife grab the heavy end!

It rolls real nice!

That Yamaha does look like a nice unit! However, I got my EU2000 for $875 shipped. I could pick up another EU1000 and easily power a 15K A/C, and still be able to move them around without straining myself, and not have spent any more $$ than the yamaha. Plus this gives the option of just bringing one smaller unit when you don't need A/C.

Just got back from a week in upstate NY camping in a place with no hookups, worked great, ran it twice a day for about 2 hours, only used about 2 gallons of gas. Very happy with it, not a single problem, usually started on the first pull as well. I put it under the rear of my trailer locked to the frame, it did not get wet when it rained.

Bertram, Just my 2 cents I don't know how safe it is with a generator under my trailer just on the off chance it caught fire You might want to built a small dog house to protect it from the weather and be able to have it about 10' from your trailer.

I suspose it is possible, where I was you could only run the generator between 9:00am and 11:00am and then again between 4:00pm and 7:00pm, I would never run it unattended in that position, it is actually right under the water tank.
