Went to pick up my 2005 3500 6-speed last week, and saw a brand new, bright yellow SRT 10 4 door on the lot. Holy cow, what a rocket! The automatic is actually great too. Shifts firm, locks up great, handles like a slot car. . Interior is awesome. So I drove home the 6 speed (1500 miles), turned around and took my wifes Tahoe back and traded it in on the SRT. . During the return trip, I averaged 13 mpg, and really enjoyed the ride. Dodge has a real winner in my opinion. The only caveat was I had to give my wife the SRT 10 as a condition of bringing it home. But the big plus is now she brings me my beer, slippers and the TV remote on command now. Way to go dodge!

Can you tell if that is a AAM axle under the rear??

It should be 4. 56 gears, That would be awesome for a diesel with 44's under the fender

PS - I bet you should get some good looks in that puppy (and a few races)

Nope, my buddy owns Bossier Country in Fairfield Texas. I get a killer deal everytime. Here's the new Cummins. 18 mpg driving home, whereas the 4 speed auto got 14 in the same journey. . 04. 5 is on left, 05 on right. Its interesting but the 04. 5 was a darker red, and the 05 is much lighter. The navigational radio is fun to use. I call her Lucy.

I think the build sheet said its a Dana 60.

I was driving it the other day, and some guy pulls up next to me, leans out his window with his cell-camera phone, snaps a picture of me and the truck, and drives away. .

Driving home on interstate 10 I noticed a lot of Texas Highway Troopers would turn around and follow me for a few miles, then turn back. . Kept it at 1 mph under the max until I got to New Mexico...

Congratulations, I loved mine, but have realized that the Diesel is the real secret to dodge speed, well, with a few hemi exceptions from days gone by.

Beautiful truck. I WILL ( ) own a Viper someday, and the SRT 10s are VERY nice. You have a Viper, I think, so this is a nice companion.

Congrats on the new CTD also.

I know about being practical, convenient, and giving the public what they want... .

BUT

A SRT-10 with 4 doors and an automatic... gee. I grew up in a time that we would not even go for power steering or AC (and would delete the heater if we had a chance), just to get the performance.

I'm older now and have AC & PS. (but not power windows!!!) The market has changed to match our current needs. But oh to be young and foolish again (and to have a 6-speed, 2-door SRT-10!)

Congratulations on two fine DODGE trucks!

Exactly. I can't see buying a 4 door SRT10, defeats the purpose if you ask me (too heavy).

Either way that's a sweet truck, but I would have sprung for the 2 door/6 speed version. :D

Why not a 4 door? I've got kids to take to school, can't do it in the 2 door. Plus, from all the tests that I have read, the 4 door is only a few tenth slower than the 2 door (automatic is actually easier to launch) and about 3 mph slower on the top end. Actual weight difference is not as much as you would think either, I've seen it about 300 lbs. I've driven both, and both had their own good points, I just needed a bit more room than a standard cab provided me.

How nice to have a truck load of people to enjoy blowing off the HD Fords. :D

300 lbs - 3 tenths in the 1/4

Auto easier to launch would be fixed with slicks real fast

I guess I'm like the above guy, I'd order it with no AC, no power steering and no radio if I could.

Now you just need twin turbos on that thing and you can race Supras with it or your "twin turbo" Viper :-laf . Or not.

yep 48re ,had one on the dyno at work for well over 100,000 miles simulating a 20,000 lbs trailer. should have seen how red the manifolds got going from 0-90 wfo with the load simulation. :--) should hold up well in the v-10 as it does not have the low end of the CTD. during testing it was 0-90 wfo coast for 30 seconds then all over again.

Haha. .

Actually, I sold the Viper last week to someone from Saudia Arabia (of all places). Some prince (from what I understand) heard about it, and paid cash. . Must be nice to own a few oil wells.

The 48RE shifts pretty hard, and one thing that I'm getting used to is around 5 mph, it drops into first and slows the car down somewhat abruptly.

Dodge has a winner in the pickup wars in my opinion, whether its a 4 door or 2 door, these trucks are just simply awesome.

Paxton make a nice supercharger kit for it, using a Nova unit, worth looking into.

Tell your wife congrats on the new ride!

Your sig now says 2005 NV5600  and your mileage is better.

I guess we talked you into that :D
