Is there a convincing thing for an incurably hardheaded female who won;t carry her own protection?



I gave her a copy of the posting that was on here about a week ago. I gave her a copy of Sheriff Mack's book. I even went out of my way to get one that's easy to operate (Kel-Tec P32), rather than something heavier and bulkier, or a little lighter (Black Widow 5-shot 22 revolver is almost as narrow, and I might snag one anyway, once I take (and pass, I hope) my CCW class tomorrow.



She won't carry pepper-spray. Doesn't keep a knife. Not even that nail-file. I can't be with her 24/7. Daughter's a decent shot, but she's too young for CCW, and can't be with Mama all the time either.



Maybe notes from your wives???

the kel-tec 32 is sure a good packer. thin and 6. 6 oz reliable too. good short range weapon.



some women are hard to convince, till danger comes to them. the lucky ones usually wake up realize its time to have a way to protect them selves and their loved ones. till a bad situation comes, many have their head in the sand and figure harm CANT HAPPEN TO THEM.



6. 6 oz isnt a burden to carry. theres no excuse for her to go anywhere without a simple tool that could save her life and health from evil people out there, and there are many. you dont know they want to do harm, but they know they are going to do harm.



its amazing all the files of inmates ive read through and the sickening crimes they have commited. and to think there are many more on the outside that werent too careless to get caught. not to mention the ones that get out with just a slap on the wrist. they are still lurking out there waiting for the next victim. they have no right to harm innocent victims, but they have no regard for human life and well being, and the . 32 can keep you from being a victim.

As "peashooters" go, I think the P32 has, possibly the nicest amount of firepower compared to physical size of any other "piece" (within reason--- a . 410Derringer'd be cool, but hard to manage)

A well-conducted training course would get her past that, but how do I get her past the front door?

Does anyone besides myself use Winchester Silvertip JHP's? I use them in 9mm and . 380 exclusively for anti-personnel ammo. Upon bodily contact, they turn into nothing less than meatcutting buzzsaws with a velocity upwards of 1000fps. The 9mm has a propensity to expand nicely, near that of a 50cal. with razor sharp edges and that from a short barrelled Sig 226 or Glock. In my UZI the jacketing expands quite a bit more and with a lot more velocity. They may not have the socalled manstopper power of a 45 or . 357 but they make one whale of a mess and are almost guaranteed to end the life of perp within a very few seconds. Also, they aren't quite as likley to penetrate more than 1 or 2 walls.

Try to find those classes that are tailored to women, and only women can attend. If she sees that the classes are specific to women, and that the only man (maybe) is the instructor, she might feel more comfortable. Men tend to be competitive in the class, and the women usually aren't.



Anyway, just a thought... ...

The comp'ed Glocks are nice, but wreck the hell out of your night vision. I'd go w/o a comp.

swamp rat, the WW silvertip is a good 9mm load. I have not heard spectacular things about their 45 load.

I have some of the Federal 9mm "BPLE" ammo. +P+ = !!

If in doubt, go with Cor-Bon ammo. Good stuff.



My wife wont carry anything either. I got her pepper spray a while back. She washed and dried it in her jacket, so swore to never carry it again. At one point, she wanted a knife, but I was afraid it would just get used on her. She's not too muscular (5'7" and 115 lbs) so this was a real possability.

She would carry a small caliber pistol, but there is no CCW here. Maybe this will change.

As for me... I go to the range every day. Soooo... I have my S&W in the truck at all times, and sometimes a rifle. . With some ammo.

re Glocks. I bought the wife a Glock 19 to do the CCW. I love the thing and find it to be quite accurate and cannot get it to jam.



However, my 5'4" wife had trouble with it jamming. I have tried several loads without any success. I have tried to hold it so lightly that it almost falls out of my hand trying to make it jam. Women just seem to limp wrist a pistol and on a Glock, that equals a jam. I went out and bought a East German Makarov in 9mm Mak. She has no problem with it and has shot probably 500 rounds without a jam. Did I mention she now owns and carries it? Did I mention my dad got the second one I bought?



The Makarov is a great pistol for the price. E. G. 's are said to be the best followed by the Russian followed by the Bulgarian. My only wish is it was 9mm Parabellum.

In Marion County (the biggest county population wise in Indiana, home to Indianapolis) and all surounding countys, gun sales are up by 75%, gun permits up 50%, and gun safety classes up by almost 50% also.



Check your local Sheriff dept out. They might be able to get you pointed in the right direction for safety classes. Our Sheriff dept puts on classes every month. Some are instructed by guest from places like Gunsite, Yavapai Firearms Academy, Bill Jeans and Morrigan Consulting and several other highly respected places. Some classes are only open law enforcement, military and civilians with written letters of recomendation from various groups and individuals. Other classes all that is required is criminal background check and a gun permit.



Some cost a little money for the big named ones, others that are put on by the deputys are almost cost free. If they do not do firearms training, they should know of a very reputable place that will. Local DNR/Conservation Officers are good contacts as well with hunting/weapons handling classes aimed at safety.

Yikes! Are attacks quite common, or are you protecting yourself for that 1 in a million? I couldn't immagine my wife packin a pistol! Guess that is one of the good things about living way out in the sticks!

Swamp Donkey, not only can I visualize my wife packing, she is a deadly shot with the UZI, especially when I mount the lazer site.



First time I ever let her fire the beast, she emptied a 40 rd. mag into a water filled 2 liter Pepsi bottle, from the hip in a shade over 10 seconds. She only missed a few times and that was because she was chasing the bottle as it bounced around. Not too shabby for a novice at 40 feet in the dark.



BTW, like yourself we live pretty far out in the boonies, but it seems that the badguys these days are moving out in the boonies as well.

Yes they are, primarily because of that attitude (I am just as guilty... we live in the country, we know everyone, why lock it, we'll be back soon). Big crime like your class A felons are sticking in the big cities. The petty criminals are the ones targeting the country now. They know the ease of stealing 4 wheelers, tractors and petty stuff out in the middle of no where. With so many people in the city working so many different shifts, its hard for them to target a house because the house beside it might have people at home all day long.



My cousins neighbor (out in the sticks) saw a Rent-a-Center delivery truck back to his garage. He just figured my Cousin bought something. So he goes on about his work. He looks out and sees them pushing the 4 wheeler in the garage. He drives over, the guys haul a$$ out of there. Later that day after everyone in the area (about 12 houses in a 15 mile area) gets home from work there is a total of 6 ATV's missing, 2 mowers including a new $7000 Dixie Chopper, several chainsaws, weedeaters, and one utility tractor.



Now, thats not the kind of crime I cary a gun for, but it sure is a sobering thought. That is the only crime these people have witnessed in over 10 years out in the boonies, and nothing has happened since.

that might be a worry when you come upon someone thievin and they use violence against you while getting away, so you arent able to stop them or call a leo to stop them. have your equalizer at all times. not just to stop theifs, but to persuade them to do you no physical harm.



GLOCKS



ive had 13 or more glocks that i can think of over the years. only malfunction was a failure to feed with a discount poor quality aftermarket mag. no failures with glock mags and no stovepipes.



i have purposely limpwristed , shot sideways, up side down etc, no problems with models 26, 27, 23, 17, or 22. if they werent reliable 100 percent, id go back to a revolver. glock is by far the most reliable semi auto ive ever owned or shot. read about chuck taylors torture tests. whats he shot through his g-17 now, 140,000 rounds.



glocks are good for women with less hand strenghth for the reliability in case of limp wristing, and the fact its easier to rack the slide than a lot of others. of course slide stays back when mag is empty for easy reload. glock is also the weapon to buy for folks with injuries to the hands/wrists or arthritis. a revolver is dependable but the harder trigger pull is a liability and difficult for folks with hand problems. glock is only 5. 5 lbs pull compared to 12 lbs for a revolver.



forget the comp. flash. imo glock 26 9mm with pinky extension and corbon plus p 115 gr jhp at 1350 fps or proload plus p 115 gr jhp at 1300fps both with low flash powder. dont forget nite sites. a glock 26 is my everday companion.



kel-tecs had 1 9mm, ok, 1 . 40, garbage unreliable, and 1 . 32. reliable.



also good little packer. berreta 3032 tomcat . 32 with tip up barrel. good for arthritic hands. no need to rack the slide. also dependable WITH FACTORY MAGS. i use gold dots in my tomcat and . 32 keltec.

I've never had a problem with my Glock 21 (. 45) but some of my friends have managed to stove-pipe a round or two. It always happens when they try and one-hand it with a limp-wrist. Of course they can't hit nuthin doing that anyway. Amatuers.

Yup, my gunsmith showed me that one... . was a bit of a toss-up, and then I had a redneck attack and decided to "buy Amuric'n", so the dollars went to Florida---he gave me "gold dots", too, along with my "ball"range bullets.



have already had it fieldstripped for cleaning twice Easy to re-assemble, except for when the slide test fails ---there's a trick to it, and I've only stumbled into it, rather than a scientific elimination, but real easily fixed
