I got my new set of 275 injectors to put on my '02 ETH 6 speed. Now that they are here I am wondering what can I really expect to see out of them?

The engine is stock and I am planning on adding a fuel box (Edge Comp or DD UFM), 4" exhaust, e-brake, and gauge set at the time of installation.

Now that I have the 275s, I am also wondering if it might not be better to trade them off for a set of DDII or DDIII injectors instead? Any thoughts on this from anyone who has already been down the road I am about to travel with BOMBS?

I am looking to get into the 350-400HP range without having to do much more to the truck than what I have outlined above (will probably will have to do clutch too).

How hard is it to put the injectors in? Anyone have directions or something. My service manual is on the way but I have not received it yet. I am planning on doing the rest of the stuff myself and feel pretty confident that I can handle it without much trouble. The injectors are something that I have never done though, so what am I getting into once I take the valve cover off and start messing aroung with the 'guts' on top of the engine?

Thanks

Joe

The Edge and the 275's are a great towing package. The 4 inch exhaust will give you a little bit of uummph, with peak boost. I picked up 2 psig after installing the exhaust system. I've never dyno'd the truck, but I would guess I'm probably somewhere between 260-285 rear wheel hp. That works great for towing the 5'ver. You will probably want to go to DDII's to get where you want to be. Somebody else will definitely chime in on this one. You might want to consider a PDR HX-40 turbo as well.

I dyno'ed 275s at 42 more hp in an eth. No boost box is needed with them. DD3's are good for about 100 hp, but do require a boost module, either a stand-alone unit or one that is part of a fueling box.

steps, which way to go?

I started off with 275's then went to BD2's and I just upgraded to DD3's

Out off all the injectors used DD3's are really a great injector.

It all depends on what you want ;)

I cant see any problem towing with DD3's comp and PDR HX35 w a 14cm wastegated housing.

I tow a 30' 10k double slide 5er so I will let ya know :)

Joe,

Send me your email address and I'll send the instructions to you.

I'm also on the fence as to buy a box or injectors. I've read the instructions but as I've never messed with anything like this I'm still a little not-knowing about the real difficultly level of this project

SELL THEM!

Get some 3's- do it once. That's what I finally decided to do.

I put the DDUFM on first and now need a clutch. Right after the clutch will be the DD3's. And eventually I'll pop a PDR HX-40 on there.

I am absolutely convinced that somewhere within the 25 settings on the UFM I can find a satisfactory place to run the 3's on the stock turbo without meltdown. The 40 should expand my range of options. :D

But I rarely tow and don't mind turning things down a bit when I do.

Make sure you budget in some money for a clutch- you'll likely need as soon as you add more than a box or injectors.

If you have a good dealer, he will install the injectors while doing a valve adjustment at a very reasonable price, because he's already got to pull the valve cover so there's some savings by doing both at the same time. Folks say it's easy, and I believe them. But that also means its only an hour of labor for an experienced mechanic, and if you come up with fuel in your oil you have someone to take it back to. I'm not saying injectors are better than boxes, I'm just offering another option to consider.

To those of us who like "bombing missions"

I guess I'm just like the rest of you guys. There is only 1 truck and it's a Dodge with only 1 engine-a Cummins. Of all the trucks I've owned over the years, This 02 3500 6 speed 410 gear 4x4 flat bed is THE best truck I ever owned. I put a Power puck on it 50hp and 159ftlbs made a real power house out of it. Just yesterday put a straight stack exhaust on it, and it really sounds super. I farm and do dozer work, and this truck pulls whatever I want it to pull. Truck, trailer and dozer will gross about 37K. Only problem I've had is return lines leaking, which my dealer replaced the whole thing. I also got about one half mile per gal more after adding the Puck. Another guy I put a Puck on for got 2 mpg more, and was as happy with it as I told him he would be with it. These trucks are great, and they are a lot of fun, too. I guess all of us turbo heads fall into the same category, though. If it Ain't a Cummins, it Ain't a Diesel. jwhite

275`s

my $0. 02 adding any injector larger than stock will fatten up the bottom end. Makes a noticable difference-go with thw DD-III`s

275's

Just had the 275's installed and I like what it's done for the truck. I think I'm done with power improvements. Now I need an exh. brake and then?????

LOL RichB:D :D

Actually, the 3's will make about 115hp in an ETH. Just the 3's and a HX-40 give about 350rwhp. Add and EZ/TTPM for another 35-40hp and you are right where you want to be and no EGT issues.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I am considering a cluthc at some point too, but I do not know what I should get. What experiences do you guys have with bigger clutches? I obviously want one that will hold the power, but I also want it to remain somehwat driveable so I dont have to develop legs like Arnold to work the cluth pedal.

As far as turbos or turbo housings, what is better the HX-40 or keep the HX35 and just put a different (bigger) housing on it?

How long can I get away with the stock turbo and a wastegate retarding j-hook thingy to get the boost level up above 20 psi?

Keith,

I thought you guys advertise the TTPM as adding 50hp to the rear wheels?

Although I haven't installed the proper clutch yet, you'll find that Southbend Clutch has a product for your application. While SBC isn't the only supplier of good aftermarket high-power clutches, Peter and the crew are held in high esteem by most all of thier TDR customers. It's a good product with UNREAL customer support. And to answer your pedal pressure concerns--some guys report an actual decrease in effort with the SBC.

I leave the turbo questions to somebody else.

Looking forward to getting my 275's ! hopefully in a few weeks ...

Since my truck is and auto this will be the last bomb I do. The only reason I'm doing it is just to get a little more low end. The EZ just isn't enough. I also wouldn't have lost to that PSD (see my post a while back) !!

I think it will be a good package for towing and all around use.

SORRY BUT:

There's never enough.

There's no such thing as a "last bomb".

You can't stop.

We can't either--

Hi, my name is (insert your name), and I'm a BOMBaholic.

Power corrupts, Cummins Diesel power corrupts absolutely.

So didja get the 275's in yet?

(I guess I need to learn how to add a quote... )

Well Stated!!!

I just wanted to add a litle towing oomp! A simple Three phase plan starting with an EZ and 275s for '03, trans in '04, and bigger injectors & turbo in '05... Now just look at my signature, disgusting :D It's not up there with the big boys (yet), but I think I have the towing oomp covered. hhmm, what's my next excuse going to be???
