I just got new batteries this afternoon and just got done putting them in. They are Napa Legend 75 batteries. The guy told me they were made by deka. My question is they seem fairly small compared to my old Interstates. There is about 3/4" of an inch of space on each side of the battery in the battery tray. My old batteries took up the whole tray. Is this something I should be worried about? There is an 18 month free replacement on them and 75 month nationwide warranty. Both batteries cost $150 which I didnt think was too bad.

I got 2 Optima red tops and they were too small to reach the old hold downs. I used tarp straps until I can do different trays. Seems to work, although it's not the absolute best tie down.

Seems to be the trend that replacement batteries are getting smaller. Just make sure they are secure and you'll be fine.

I just bought some Costco batteries: 1000 amp, 900 cca, 100 month pro-rated, 3 year free replacement and about 150 bucks total for both. These actually fit very good and appeared to be the same size as the factory batteries. Not sure who makes em.

I was told not to get OPTIMA's and this is from a shop that

sells them... ... but not their main brand... ... the manager mentioned that they have had a lot of trouble with them - they don't last - and he personally has replaced several sets on his boat with only 1 year's use... ... . has anybody else experienced this?????

Actually, I had the same thing happen to me when shopping for an Optima. The salesman told me exactly the same things he told you, but I bought one anyway. It was to put into my Jeep that I use for plowing. The plow uses a ton of electricity to run the hydraulic pump and I thought a good battery would be best. It lasted for only two season while the sears diehard I bought to replace it has been in for 4 years now with no problem. The Optima didn't die durning plowing, it died after the summer when I went to start it up to get it ready for the next plowing season. I wasn't really happy with it, but I'm sure there are plenty of people that have had good experiences and will sing their praises.
