questions for Doc

:D What a lovely morning this turned out to be. The neighbor is have problems with raccoons. I pulled out my live traps and dusted them off last night and set them up. About 2:30 the coons come around but are wary.

At 04:30 the trap went off and I took a look. Oh, boy! Black cat with a white hood and twin performance racing stripes to the tip of the tail. Went back to bed and got up about 6:30. Got out the tarp and the trailer.

The little bugger did not do a thing while I put the tarp over him. Moved him to the trailer. Nothing yet. Luck is holding good! NOT!!! As soon as I set him in the trailer, he lets go. Luckily it is contained inside the tarp, but there is plenty of order to go around.

The wife would not let me back inside. Hell, she wouldn't even give me a good by kiss. I did not get sprayed nor did the truck. Problem was that my clothing absorbed the wafting order. This I did not realized at the time.

Well I took this little super pheromone bomb out toward the coast up into the woods for a release. I could still smell him all the way out there, while driving. That when I figured I had absorbed a little. Not problem. I release him with not further fumigating and head home. Get home strip down and shower up with no problems. I now smell all nice and OLD SPICY.

Go back out to the truck and thats when I find I have a problem. The drivers leather seat smells. NUTS:{

Well I grabbed the 2 bottles of leather cleaner and have at it. I'm happy to say, it's all gone. :D What a close call:rolleyes: Enjoy the chuckle. -Mundgyver-

Experience = remember'd mistakes that I won't make again.

Be glad you have leather seats. I bet cloth seats would have been more difficult to clean.

I notice that a lot of folks tout the fact that they own a truck that's fully loaded "except for leather. " Having kids and all that goes with them (including spills and crumbs and what have you) I'm darn glad I've got a leather (and vinyl) interior. It's wayyyy easier to clean and keep clean than cloth.

Just my take. Glad to hear your story had a good ending... I was worried until I read the last few sentences.

I think it's great that you let the little guy go too. Lot's-o-folks would have poisoned or otherwise killed the little varmint... but to me, that's not the right thing to do... relocation of the problem is the answer.

;) I can't even imagine having cloth seats anymore. These leather seats are the most comfortable seats I have ever had. Full lumbar support and adjust ability with heat. They are great. I'm looking to buy my wife a new car and you can bet I'm getting full leather with heat in that one. Like you say that are a heck of allot easer to keep clean and take care of.

Come on?

Come on guys, its a skunk... ... ... . My workmate has caught 22 skunks in the last three weeks and has used them for target practice after release. If you don't, they come back, or get into someone elses place. They breed like rabbits only faster and can do serious harm to anything that gets close, it not only stinks, but can burn the eyes permanent. It is not just a cute little "Pepe La Phew" lookalike... ... . They also can carry rabies and do often.

I'm not one to just shoot any animal, but I'm affraid that one would of been history. Then I would of taken him out of the "live" trap. I don't think they spray when they are dead.

Size

My workmate has a live trap that is just big enough for the skunk. Then he throws a blanket over the trap and takes them to skunk heaven. He says if they can't raise their tail, they can't spray. He also says he gives them a chance, if they run fast and hard, they have a chance to outrun the bullet.

His neighbor has caught over 44 in one year, mind you this is in one neighborhood down by the river.
