Icouldn't help my self, this has been going on for months:eek:

Smoke is a good thing.....

Me likes smoke!:D I especially like the nice soot build-up on my right quarter panel. Goes good with the nice white paint... :D :D

am i to assume that smoke is only made with big injectors and/or comp with wire hooked up,

reason i ask is beacuase i can not get even a little push when i jump on it from a stop sign. of course i have the comp on 1x5

and it sure would be nice:D

tomeygun - It would be easier for you to make smoke, if you didn't have an auto. Mrs Doc wanted to smoke a guy once and asked me how to do it. I told her to shift up, dump the clutch and romp on it, so she did. Man, did she ever make the smoke! Big cloud of black diesel and a little cloud of grey clutch smoke

With DDIII's and a Comp box tuned to the max, I'm sure you get smoke anytime you put your foot in it whether or not you have an auto, 5 speed or 6 speed. I believe Stefan Kondolay has published some pictures to that effect! Looks good!!! If you don't want the smoke, the Comp box can accommodate you there too.

Nice pics of the run, I sure like to see and hear those stacks especially on that run. I do have to say you'll missed the smoke show on the road in Cord's truck... ... cover the highway! Keep those pics commin.

Tailgater control

The BD 5's are great for this, especially on those real hot and humid summer days. Last summer, my wife and I were enroute to a friends house to say hi and swim in their pool. It was a very hot, humid August day and I had a idiot in a open top jeep riding my bumper as we approached a 17% grade. Sooooo, I slowed down to about 35 mph in 5th gear and then nailed it at the bottom of the grade. The smoke was so thick that I completely lost sight of the jeep, had to take at least a few years off the drivers life. My wife was doing this  as I was doing this :D :D :D :D .

Winter time is a bummer for the coal train smoke. Mine is more of a wispy grey cloud now, unless I really nail it with low boost. Wait for those hot summer days, if you like the smoke now, you will love it come August ;) .

A couple of months ago when I still had Bill K's supermentals and HX40 installed, I was up visiting at Rob Hansons' house. When I left I was driving down one of those straight farm type roads. Well anyway, as I crested a slight hill I noticed some old guy up ahead lolly-gagging along on a bicycle. I slowed way down and cranked up the Powermax3, upshifted to 5th gear to lug it, then started pouring on the coals as I approached and passed him. I laid a cloud so thick the old man disappeared in it! I was laughing so hard I was crying. :D

I just hoped the guy didn't ride off into the ditch or something.

all this talk about smoke has given me smok-envy,

i guess you could say i am SMOKLICKLY- CHALLENGED

so because my t. c. stall is too high the smoke is gone with boost before i can enjoy it, right?

darn-it:mad:

Careful, Big Brother's Watching!!

I feel like I'm throwing a bucket of water on a bunch of "smoke" dogs in my front yard, but take a look at what's already going on here in Texas:

http://www.smokingvehicle.com

I guess we have to be careful who we "smoke"! On my plate renewal form this year, the State of Texas said that they would not renew registration if a vehicle had a "smoking vehicle" complaint against it and had not passed a recertification test. Maybe this is only true for EPA non-compliance areas such as Harris County (Houston) and surrounding counties where I live, but it got my attention!!

By the way, I guess they could even nab me with just a little old EZ since I get a good shot of smoke taking off from a stop and at every shift when we're pulling our 5ver. :( On the other hand, I may be OK since it doesn't last 10 seconds, but that doesn't stop anyone from filing a complaint!

I only smoke out someone if they are tailgating me bad,and dont back off after a few taps of the brake lights, then the comp goes on 5x5,and i let off,so boost drops to zero, then roll on it,man what a cloud,it will bury the fool that t-gates me. I dont smoke on a regular basis, with the comp on 3 or less, there is only a plumbe, then it clears up the instant you get boost. My Dad's truck, being an 01 with the tiny turbo, smoked so bad with dd3,and an EZ that it literally stopped traffic! We had to pull them out, they dont smoke nearly as much in my truck, with the HX35. If fact he has more smoke with dd2'and an EZ than i have with DD3's ,and the comp on 3.

As long as we're smoking people...

In my not-so-humble opinion, a bit of a black cloud is a highly useful tool in teaching people a little manners!

Case in point: Here I am driving down PCH on a recent trip to Newport Beach, and I'm stuck behind some guy in a pretty new Mustang that has no idea where he's going. I was in no hurry, so whenever he slowed down or came to a stop, I didn't bother passing him. The problem is this silly little man in a Miata riding my bumper (to be honest, I could only see him when he backed off a little bit!). He's behind me honking, flashing his high-beams, swerving, and finally starts holding up his favorite finger for my viewing pleasure. So I set my Comp to 5/5 and wait. When the Mustang finally pulls over, I upshift into 4th, drop the hammer, and completely disappear the little red Miata in the thickest, blackest cloud I've ever dropped. When it finally clears, I see the Miata completely stopped and the "gentleman" behind the wheel coughing and dazed like he had no idea what hit him. In my opinion, it was a cheap lesson in manners, because if he'd have pulled that garbage here in NM where I live, somebody might have shown him his pistol. I usually go out of my way not to hammer somebody unless he deserves it, but I can't stand it when somebody whose car could fit in the bed of my truck tries to intimidate me.

Tomey Gun, have you talked with Jerry mcklain?

we The Gateway Turbo Diesel Owners are planning to meet next month. keep you eye on the events section. we would shure like to meet you and hook that wire up for you.
