P-0122 ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (APPS) SIGNAL VOLTAGE TOO LOW (DIESEL)

When Monitored: During engine running operation.

Set Condition: Low voltage detected at APPS signal circuit or low voltage detected between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

P-0500 No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal

When Monitored: The Vehicle Speed Signal test is run when the Engine boost is greater than 7 psi and the Engine rpm is above 1024 rpm but less than 2784 rpm.

Set Condition: The code is set if no Vehicle speed is received from the CAB Module for more than 15 seconds for 2 consecutive trips.

P1693–DTC DETECTED IN PCM

This ECM (Engine Control Module) trouble code indicates that there is a DTC stored in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

how much is one of those sensors (apps). and where to get one?
A new APPS costs about $400 from Hoesli Diesel or over $500 from Dodge. For that price you get the entire APPS assembly which includes the cast aluminum mounting bracket, accelerator bell crank, and TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).

A much better option is to replace just the TPS on the side of the APPS housing for only about $145 when purchased from TDR member Timbo (search for him and send him a PM or email).

But before you replace anything, what is the problem and what are the symptoms you've been experiencing? That P0500 trouble code shouldn't have anything to do with the APPS.

Best regards,

John L.

I'll get the 0500 code pretty regularly in the winter when I idle up to 1200 rpm or so with the pedal to warm things up before driving off. I guess the PCM sees the throttle but not the wheel speed and thinks something is broke.

Been doing the "poor man's high idle" Eric?

Sometimes when driving, usually at low RPM and Low to mid speed, it seems like someone just shut off the key for a second... then it comes right back... it only lasts for a second or 2...

I have the Electronic "High Idler" that stacks on the TPS. . the switch for that is off when this code occurs... . I was going to take the connectors apart and clean them. . maybe that will help and then clear the codes by removing the battery wires for 30 min... If it does it again, I should have only 1 code plus the 1693.

The 0500 code is an old one I think... when I was hooking up a superlift Spedo calibrator.

Thanks for the info on timbo. If I need him I will E-Mail him
